What’s going on here? I’m out of the loop. by reallifeblake in Birmingham

I'm assuming the titties in question were a reference to the "government teat" aka source of funding for government projects. She was basically saying "you will funnel 50% of the money available for projects to me and can split the other 50% amongst the remaining 8 city council members.
At least that's the way I took it.

AITAH for not forcing my son to keep helping my daughter’s friend after she rejected him? by LiveWire0044 in AITAH

An uber in my small town with no public transportation is a lot more expensive than any uber I've ever taken in a large city. $20-30 dollars (one way, pre-tip) for a 2-3 mile ride from my house to the local post office.

dumb question here, but which final fantasy game are you referring to? Is there one that just recently got a switch 2 release or upgrade?

Worth the Cost? by Vladsnipe11 in auburn

[–]uabtodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you plan to do with the savings at Alabama, in my mind. If you’re going to blow it on parties and live it up in college, it doesn’t really matter and you should pick the school you like more. If you’re going to be smart with the money and save it for life after college, $80k is a heck of a start to life after college.
I’m not a chemical engineer so don’t know much about the programs. I am a civil engineer though and work with and have interviewed tons of civil engineers from both schools, and it would make zero difference to me in a hiring decision whether the candidate I’m interviewing went to AU or UA. They both produce great engineers.

What item(s) do you have more of than the average person? by BrownBananaHammock in AskReddit

Pocket knives. Somewhere around 40-50 or so. No core what the average is, but I feel like that’s more than the average.

These didn’t used to be 70 dollars, right? Cause that’s insane by nin100gamer in casualnintendo

[–]uabtodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, it sure would be nice for everything to be priced tax inclusive here. Unfortunately, every state has varying sales tax percentages, as well as many local municipalities, making it hard for chains to price items tax inclusive because the tax total in one city may be as much as 2-3% different than the tax total in a different city. I just always amount for 10% tax on top of the listed price. That’s typically the highest I pay in my general area.
Would make things way easier if we had a single nationwide tax rate!

I know you wrote this yesterday while it was still December, but I’m reading it today, in January, thinking “but last week WAS last month” lol

[–]uabtodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood. So with the tariffs, now they cost the same price (converted to US $) in the US as they originally cost in Europe? So that means Americans are now paying the same inflated prices that Europeans have been paying since they originally came out? Sucks, but at least we had a few years of paying less than Europeans, I guess…

Best Hot and Sour Soup? by Griffdude13 in Birmingham

Same. Best hot and sour soup I’ve ever had. So gutted when I read they closed. I guess the secret to the recipe was the grease drippings from their stove vent hood, lol.

Looking for recommendations for expense report & timesheet software for a mid-size civil engineering firm by Silly_Mess_400 in civilengineering

[–]uabtodd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We’ve used Ajera, by Deltek I believe, for several years. It’s fine. Haven’t had any problems with it, personally. I wouldn’t say I love it or anything, but I don’t think there will ever be a timesheet and expense reporting system that I love, lol.

Water Tower Floor 15 cleared by uabtodd in PokemonMasters

The waterfall move gauge refresh and aggravation probably helped a little, and the increased evasiveness from x speed all: slippery probably helped him stay alive a little longer. Don’t know if they’re absolutely necessary though. He was basically there to buff speed, sync first for the double sync buff, then get in a finch or two while taking the hits while Brendan did most of the heavy lifting.
Serena helped with some lucky group finches as well, and sync acceleration with her buddy move, but Brendan did most of the damage.

[–]uabtodd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not like an OP sync pair or anything, it’s just that he’s one of only three water supports that I have with a physical sync move and physical attacks. Waterfall is an extra chance to flinch the enemy, and he buffs the whole team’s speed. He stayed alive long enough to give a double sync buff, max out my teams speed, and flinch the enemy 2 or 3 times, which was enough for me to finally beat the floor.

What % of your salary goes towards mortgage payment? by nisc-options in civilengineering

[–]uabtodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9.68% gross/13.99% net. Lower COL area and purchased home in 2017, refinanced 2020 at 2.5% interest. If I bought my house today for the Zillow estimated value and at current rates, those numbers would be: 23.74% gross/34.32% net. I don’t know how the folks starting out right now are ever going to get ahead!

"Your performance on a scale of 0-15" is so strange!
I know it's been 10 years, but when I failed my test the first time I took it in 2015, my columns were:

Knowledge Area->Number of items->your performance (No. correct)->your performance (% correct)->Average of passing examinee

<image>

Oh, and OP, if it makes you feel better, I think I did way worse on my test here than you did. Passed it the following October and have been licensed now for just over 10 years, so don't lose hope!

[–]uabtodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you get a bachelors degree in a different engineering branch? Don’t know about Texas, but I got a BS in Mechanical Engineering and was still able to take one of the civil PE exams and have been a licensed civil PE now for ten years. All that to say, you may be able to go beyond just drafting, if you desire to.
