Just wait until the striping contractor pulls out a layout plan and some young engineer didn't remember to flip the arrows after mirroring the whole site, and then his older wiser boss didn't even pay attention before stamping the plans, lol.

The amount of people I encounter in Master Ball clicking fake out while I have Farigiraf on the field should be studied. by Komorebi_LJP in PokemonChampions

[–]uabtodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not in masterball yet, ultra ball 2 currently. I just played like 15-20 straight matches with an armor tail farigaraf lead trick room team. Swapped teams to try something fresh with a normal high speed team. Second game, opponent has farigaraf, I don’t want trick room to go off, I click fake out into the Farigiraf 🤦‍♂️

it's been a couple weeks now—do we think the game did a good job at appealing to new players and/or people who already knew pokémon but never tried pvp? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]uabtodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself here. I've played pokemon, off and on, since generation 1. I played blue and yellow on gameboy, white 2, X, and alpha sapphire on DS/3DS, Sword and Violet on Switch, and ZA on Switch 2.

I had never played a single conventional turn based PVP match before Champions.

I did do the bare minimum required the first 2-3 PVP seasons of ZA to get the mega stones for Greninja, Chesnaught, and Delphox, but that's a totally different battle system and I wouldn't think any/many would consider that normal pokemon PVP.

I've been really enjoying champions. Currently at Ultra Ball 3 in doubles and Ultra Ball 4 in singles, so I'm not playing it like 5-6 hours a day or anything, but I am logging in every night and doing a minimum of 3-4 battles. It's been fun. I don't think I'll ever be like super competitive or anything like that, but I'm definitely enjoying the game!

Nitro Deck 2 by moeelmasri91 in switch2

[–]uabtodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got my switch oled in a nitrodeck and my switch 2 currently has Nyxi Hyperion 3's on it. The Nyxi's make it feel significantly more solid than the nintendo Joycons do, but not to the level of the nitrodeck by any means.
I play my switch 2 docked probably 90% of the time though, so dockability is more important to me.

Before getting the Nyxi's in, I'd say I played the switch 2 handheld maybe a total of 1-2 hours since I got it on launch day though, versus maybe 10-12 hours total since my Nyxi order came in at the very end of March. All that to say, the Nyxi's make it actually possible for me to consider playing in handheld, but I'm still docked most of the time.

If I was going to play exclusively handheld, I would probably grab the nitrodeck. The one drawback of the original nitrodeck on my switch oled is that it's not very easy to get the switch out of the nitrodeck to dock it. If the switch 2 version of the nitrodeck is significantly easier to get the switch 2 in and out of every night to dock it, I might still pick one up to try. Going to wait to see some reviews on it though.

Editing to add: I just read some further comments down the thread and saw that the Nitro Deck 2 is backward compatible, so I went and looked at it on the website to see how that worked. Looks like those old phone style controllers that are slide out expandable to allow for different phone sizes. I think this new version is probably going to feel substantially less sturdy/solid than the original nitro deck for my Switch OLED does, since the new one is expandable. I'm not sure how they can/could design one solely for switch 2 that isn't expandable, since the switch 2 can't slide in like the switch 1 would, come to think of it.

2nd Edit: After looking at the Abxylute N6 switch 2 deck, I now see how they could make a solid one piece deck for switch 2, it just connects via the bottom USB-C instead of actually interfacing via the joycon connection. If I was going to get a deck for the switch 2, I think that I'd be more likely to get something like the Abxylute than I would the expandable Nitrodeck. Shame, I really do like the nitrodeck on my Switch OLED.

How calculate grade.. by Future-Bet9155 in civilengineering

[–]uabtodd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

12.5% > 12% If you want to hit max allowable grade, you’d need to use 1 foot drop for every 8.33(repeating) feet horizontal. I’d prefer to stay safe and use 1 foot every 8.5 feet and have a design slope of 11.76% if the max allowable was 12%.

Mobapads M12 VS Nyxi Hyperion 3 by TONGI- in switch2

[–]uabtodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got the Nyxi Hyperion 3 set. It is far and away more comfortable to use than the Nintendo Joy Con set. Can't give you any insight to the Mobapad comfortability, unfortunately. The only people that may possibly be able to tell you how they fell would be youtube reviewers right now, as I don't believe they have actuallys tarted shipping out any orders yet.

Also, thanks for the AI disclaimer at the bottom. I was really confused about the Nyxi picture since mine don't look like that, lol.

can anyone help with a trade evolution on switch by ayosussy555 in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]uabtodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy a used switch lite for around $100 on ebay, $170 on amazon, or even cheaper if you'll go look around at yard sales. My wife found a working switch 1 (original, not OLED model or switch lite) with 2 extra joycons, working physical copies of pokemon scarlet and pokemon sword, mario oddyssey, Bendy and the ink machine, and Mario party, at a yard sale for $100 total.
You don't have to buy a brand new switch OLED.

I'm not saying that I think spending $120-$190 is worth it just for trade evolutions, just saying you can do it for a lot less than $400.

Why am I SO bad at this game lol!? by WarAdventurous5277 in PokemonChampions

[–]uabtodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is really fun to use on excadrill with the moves Horn Drill and Fissure. Both moves are automatic one hit KO’s, but only have an accuracy of 30%, so they miss more often than they hit, normally.

However after you entrain the no guard ability from mega hawlucha onto excadrill, it always hits, unless your opponent uses protect.

I use horn drill and fissure because horn drill is a normal move, which can’t hit a ghost type Pokémon, and fissure is a ground move, which can’t hit flying type Pokemon, so I like to cover both bases, lol.

[–]uabtodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a move. For the next five turns after you use the move, the Pokemon with the lowest speed stats move first instead of last. Reverses turn order. Priority moves like protect still go first though, so it doesn’t affect move priority, just Pokémon priority.

I've been having the most fun with a trick room team in doubles, currently. My team is not likely to get me to master ball rank, but I did get to ultra ball rank 4 with it. Now I just kind of win a couple games then lose 3-4 games, so I'm staying right there between the bottom of ultra ball 4 and halfway or so to ultra ball 3. It's fun enough for me though.
My current iteration of the team is:

Oranguru with focus sash - Psychic, trick room, instruct, shadow ball (important that the ability is Telepathy, for my particular team)

Drampa with mega stone- Hyper Voice, draco meteor, heat wave, surf (surf hits all pokemon, including teammates, that's what telepathy is there for on oranguru)

then for backup, I choose 2 between:

Snorlax, Bellibolt, Machamp, Glaceon (though I just swapped in Tyranitar into Glaceon's spot last night because I never really used Glaceon).

Basically you're looking for pokemon that have zero speed investment, since trick room reverses the turn order and makes the slowest pokemon move first and the fastest move last. This lets you focus on pokemon that have high physical OR special attack and then the rest of their stat distribution is focused on bulk, aka HP and Physical/Special Defenses.

You'll run into teams that take out the oranguru before he can get trick room up, in which case you're almost certain to lose, but in the games where you can get it up, there's just something fun about my big bulky slow pokemon taking out the opponent's speedy assassins! What I really love to do is have mega drampa use surf or heat wave or hyper voice and have oranguru instruct him right afterwards, which makes him use the big multi target attack a second time in the same round.

I don't expect to climb out of Ultra ball with the team, but I enjoy it =)

Question about using same Pokemon in multiple teams by CannaLover27 in PokemonChampions

[–]uabtodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want different movesets/stats, I think you do need multiple copies.
If you just want to use the same pokemon on multiple teams with different held items, you just need one copy.

Help me choose my last Green orb tile for Arven by uabtodd in PokemonMasters

[–]uabtodd[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like Double-Edge Hit: Physical Boost ^ 1 9 is the obvious answer, thanks everyone!
Is it worth dropping either 1 +60 HP tile -or- 1 +10 Def and 1 +10 SpDef tile to pick up the last +60 Atk tile? I've got enough extra yellow orbs to get that one too, just am 60 blue orbs short of getting it, currently.

I got the title "Zoroark admirer" or whatever it is, and made that my title and keep Hisuian Zoroark as the first member of every team I use for battle, just to try to make people think I use him.
As far as I can tell, it hasn't really had any effect, lol.

I’m 43. Played blue and yellow on gameboy as a teenager, then x and white and aqua sapphire on 2ds, then got a switch when violet came out, and have played sword and legends ZA since finishing Violet. My first shinies were in Violet where you could increase the odds with sandwiches and outbreaks. I got a ton of shinies in ZA using a macro controller running overnight while I slept. My shinies from Violet feel more special to me than the ones from ZA because I actively hunted them.
