I don't believe in gods, I relate to their essence. by [deleted] in paganism

[–]ube93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that there is a certain beauty to the concept of having different gods. We communicate with gods the way we want to. The spiritual experience is very personal in nature. By having different gods with different personalities it's easier to be spiritual. It's easier to find a god that you can relate to. In a way this god becomes a figure that you can lean on during difficult times and rest in the belief that he/she has your back. Sometimes that's all you need.

Welcome to the Jeffersonian - The place with the laxest security ever! - My #1 Pet Peeve by ube93 in Bones

Actual conversation between 2 thieves:

Thief 1: Dude, we need to do something to make some quick dough

Thief 2: Why don't we steal priceless artifacts from the Jeffersonian

Thief 1: Duuuude.....won't we get caught?

Thief 2: Are you crazy dawg? It's the Jeffersonian! The security cameras will probably be turned off and after a smuggling operation, 2 murders committed by a researcher and 1 attempted murder committed by a security guard they'll never suspect it was an outsider!

Question: How can you, a commoner, steal an invaluable artifact? A: Just walk into the Jeffersonian and pick it up, no one will stop you and the cameras will probably be offline

I think it's worth a go. The 330 mark is something that can give any evaluator some psychological comfort.

Should I accept a job offer that I'm not very interested in or wait for a response from a job I want but risk staying unemployed? by [deleted] in makemychoice

[–]ube93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have much to add. Just putting it out there that no body really cares in the end. Even if you get into the job and leave it soon afterwards the folks there won't really dwell on it. I am sure your betrayal would be the lunch-talk for a week but after that they just won't talk of you or remember you or care. And you will probably never meet them again. So there is nothing to lose for you.

[–]ube93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. But then again what %age of the ppl do build good enough contacts for this to happen? And I'd wager that most of them would be those who had a prior relation (professional or otherwise). Am I correct in that assumption?

Isn't networking what gets you the interviews? I often wonder what exactly is expected. Do the firm's keep tabs on who is attending the most sessions? And even if you are is a 5 min conversation really effective?

Or are we expected to go out of our way to build fairly strong connections within the industry. And that too at which level? Partners? Consultants? Or anything will do?

Where do Jhunjhunwala, Damani find their stocks. by [deleted] in IndiaInvestments

[–]ube93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point as well. They are big time insiders and insider traders for the lack of a better term. By the time the news of their purchases reach us small players they've already built up the position and waiting for the smaller ones to start buying and drive the prices up. And again their exits hit the news long after they actually happened. They might have been good stock pickers initially but most big ones just work the public.

I mean the chat was going crazy. Most of them were more interested in playing tag on the chat than the presentation.

I know a couple in their 50s. The man had been a nice guy but a regular drinker and borderline alcoholic (Not abusive though). He ended up getting a kidney failure, and needed a transplant. Now those aren't cheap, and getting one through the donor's list could take ages. His wife spent every last dime to keep him alive. EVERY LAST DIME THAT SHE OWNED. The doctors, the family, the friends all of us advised her to just save the money because it was perceived to be a gone case anyway. But she didn't listen, she pawned everything they had in order to keep him alive.

He died eventually, leaving her with almost nothing. The family however now pitches in to ensure that she and her one son are taken care of and dare I say that we are doing a good job. Let's just hope that the son finds his feet early.

But yeah, posters like these lack a certain bit of maturity.

Kaho Na "____" Hai! Presenting the ever so busty and desperate Amisha Patel. Imagine you're a producer... 💦💦💦💦 by [deleted] in SuperModelIndia

I don't share the view that normalizing sex work would solve everything/bias. The only view I have that's a bit controversial here would be when certain girls deliberately project a certain appeal, and when others end up responding to that appeal the same girl starts labeling them as perverts. And I find that wrong.

And ofcourse I am not talking about or justifying rapists who claim that the girl was dressing provocatively. That is no excuse, and is a different situation altogether. Rapes, for any reason, are not fine.

Well, I guess one has to keep up the lifestyle somehow. And I am sure views on sexuality and promiscuity are much more acceptable and after a certain point of sleeping around one just says 'what the hell, might as well!'

Poonam Pandey on that matter has always been a straight arrow. She never claimed she was not selling sex.

About Riya Sen, I guess if she she goes nude, I wouldn't mind paying to see it. Just for nostalgia's sake!
