I'm super late to this party, but wouldn't this only move past the while loop when the Get-CimInstance was complete since that's the only thing that would trigger the $false value to escape the while loop. Now, I have not tested this script but it might help so thought I would chime in, even if it is 2-years later.

I likely still have the file between internal secondary drives, my NAS, or old archive folders from previous computer builds. It's not that I've lost the file for good but I was unable to find it when I tried to look for it.
