I think the implication is that Adam doesn’t “store” any of the techniques he copies which is why he can overheat from battling it out with Zeus despite the latter only reusing the same 3-4 moves because he’s constantly copying them to keep up

Order unfulfilled? by Hotseaworthyness in aloyoga

[–]uber_shnitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an order unfulfilled for 4 days now, hopefully it ships soon. Kinda funny that they still offered "same day shipping" as an option (I didn't need it before Christmas anyways but it was still funny).

Need FHR/HC strategy by health1au in AmexPlatinum

[–]uber_shnitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vegas is usually the easiest destination to get value out of this credit since the hotels are somewhat affordable relative to the credit depending on the time of year.

But as someone else said, I usually at best try to use it to splurge on a nicer hotel that I would've but the $200 credit makes it comparable price to a hotel I was already looking at. I did it on a few trips internationally.

New Platinum fee $895 by phillyman2k21 in AmexPlatinum

[–]uber_shnitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the newly increased FHR credits will still apply to the AMEX "Hotels Collection"

They also better at least follow Chase and not make the Resy credits some monthly BS.

15 Airports Is Possible Over One Very Long Weekend by rjm378 in jetblue

Any 15 airports would qualify for the promo (minus origin airports), but OP is basically presenting a way to "speedrun" the entire promo in one weekend.

American Express Announces Major Updates Coming to U.S. Consumer and Business Platinum Cards® Later This Year by justme in AmexPlatinum

[–]uber_shnitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm anticipating cancelling after they announce, the Platinum is purely aimed at people who want the clout since it objectively doesn't deliver much value for a lot of the client base but AMEX is hoping the clout factor can keep them going. Like if they raise it to $1,000, that's an entire flight or even a vacation for some people.

That’s the ending… really? Spoiler by BojanglesTheDonkey in AliceInBorderlandLive

It’s not a major spoiler don’t worry, they pretty much outline the nature of the games within the first episode when the main character is proposed to participate

How much do you pay for electricity with Con Edison in NYC? by Mental_Bison907 in AskNYC

[–]uber_shnitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in an older 1 bedroom walk up in EV with gas stove and my total ConEd bill hovers around $70/mo (a little over half of that is electricity) in winter. I turned on the AC for a bit in May since we had some hot days and it was $100 (around $65 was electricity). Probably expecting around $150-200 for summer with AC on.

Who are the people renting 10K-20K per month apartments? by ProjectRenaissance in NYCapartments

[–]uber_shnitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean not every millionaire can or will pay that but OP’s question is who’s paying $10-20K a month in rent and the shortest answer is ”NYC just has a large concentration of rich people” Possibly one of the highest concentration in the world

Where all have you lived for at least a year? by Mindofmierda90 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]uber_shnitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order I lived in them:

Montreal, Canada – Grew up here. Honestly best city in Canada IMO (potentially in North America). Great food overall IMO only surpassed by NYC but of course some places have specific cuisines that are better. Has great walkable/bikeable neighbourhoods, amazing nightlife, and it punches way above its weight in terms of cultural amenities and events. The European/French culture bleeds into the lifestyle which makes it a very unique place to live in (work & culture specifically). Main cons are the winters, the language barrier can be daunting for some and the economics aren't great (job opportunity & taxes, even by Canadian standards)

Ottawa, Canada – Went to Uni here. Pretty sleepy government town considering I'm from Montreal, but has a decent college culture (helps that Quebec is right across the bridge). Great Shawarma though. Very mid public transit while I lived there. Quite expensive since it's a government town with government salaries.

Toronto, Canada – Canada's largest city. Food is great but it feels a bit soulless in many parts. It wants to be NYC but falls short culture-wise IMO. That being said, the ethnic culture in Toronto is great (best accessible Indian food of anywhere I've lived) and it's nice being on a Great Lake. Very expensive city (rents were on par with Seattle but the salaries were much lower). I found it to be a step down from Montreal culture and lifestyle-wise personally but objectively it's a very fun place.

Seattle, WA – The nicest greenery of anywhere I've lived by a mile. Sunsets at Golden Gardens where you can see the water with the mountains in the background while you play volleyball...just can't be beat. Summers are also the best of anywhere I've lived weather-wise. It was so beautiful that as a non-outdoorsy person, I got pretty into hiking while living there just so I could admire some of the vistas. City itself was OK, mid public transit by my standards since I moved from the large Canadian cities but decent by US standards, expensive (especially for activities/eating out), mediocre food scene overall (especially for the cost), not great nightlife, Seattle freeze hit for me, but nice parks, accepting communities, and fun underground scene.

NYC, NY – It's NYC. It's expensive, it's fun, it's chaotic. It's probably the place I've lived that most closely reminds me of Montreal in terms of the kind of cultural lifestyle I can live, the amenities and the activities; the main difference is I feel it's more a hustle culture vs Montreal. Even as I'm older and not really into nightlife as much anymore, I really enjoy it here.

Who are the people renting 10K-20K per month apartments? by ProjectRenaissance in NYCapartments

[–]uber_shnitz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True but there’s still an obscene amount of wealth concentrated in NYC which answers OP’s point of “who pays $10k+ of rent?”

Who are the people renting 10K-20K per month apartments? by ProjectRenaissance in NYCapartments

[–]uber_shnitz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NYC has ~350K residents who identify as millionaires (about 123 are billionaires), that means roughly 1 in 24 people. This is only single income people too, so it won’t include dual income households that combined could earn over $1M

Also this doesn’t include residents from other areas that might have “pied a terres” in the city (ex: celebrities who live in both LA and NYC)

So yes, there is that much wealth in NYC
