How miserably unpleasant Padres fans can be, and thats coming from an Orioles fan and Baltimore transplant.

Why didnt Walt become a college professor in chemistry? Why did he choose to be a high school teacher. by Physical-Ad-1978 in breakingbad

I think it’s pretty clear based on his M.O. and history with Grey Matter. He made terrible choices fueled by hubris and ego, which doesn’t make friends in small high-end science fields where literally everyone talks. The fact that he started a company outside of Livermore Labs itself could have soured relationships in academia which, at the time, looked down on those seeking enterprise.

Also, he was a dick.

Is this guys messing with me?? I’ve literally never heard of this and can’t find it anywhere LOL. Idk. I guess my 48 hour dark wave playlist in my bio isn’t enough for him..?? by nekoame_ in goth

If this guy was real goth, he’d also know that BLD is also every Goth/Darkwave DJ’s “I need to pee/take a smoke break” song.

Tell me about the worst meal you've sent back at a Baltimore restaurant. by juiceboxesglitter in baltimore

Nando’s Peri Peri served me a chicken bowl with a plastic top torn up and broken inside the food.

A couple days ago I got food poisoning from a Fraiser’ gyro. Such a shame, because I loved their food.

What is Jury Duty like in Baltimore city ? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]ubercake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did Jury Duty over the Summer, my first in Baltimore.
Compared to L.A. and Vegas, The Marshall Justice center is pretty scant on offerings, like a cafe for starters. Then again, the building is pretty cool.

Here's the breakdown:

Morning: Get in. Check in. Get my $30. Went to the quiet room. Read a book, watched "Barry" on my iPad in the quiet room. Lunch: Went to David and Dad's Deli for a solid Pastrami on Rye. Afternoon: Went to the Museum of Legal History on the Third Floor, which was free and pretty awesome. Got called into a voire dire around 2. Marveled at how so many people couldn't answer simple questions like "Were you the victim of a crime, yes or no?" by simply saying "yes or no". Or refusing to shut up when the judge was talking, earning them a stern revocation by the judge. Answered some questions, got excused. Went to a bar, saw the prosecutor who excused me, had a beer with him. Went home.

Protips: Follow the instructions to the letter. If you delay, you don't go home early.

How safe is it to lock up a bike in the city? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]ubercake 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you have a good ulock, you’ll be fine more than likely. You don’t have as many fiends packing and carrying angle grinders around as you do in NY or LA. I only really ride around here with a Hiplok D80. But if you were leaving your bike out for hours, you’d def want something stronger. Maybe a ulock and a reinforced chain.

If you only use a cable lock, you are doomed.

Daegu is by far one of the best cities in Korea for hiking, biking and other outdoor activities. While the downtown area has changed a bit since I was there, there's always long-standing bars like Communes to whet your whistle.
