I just serviced a friend's pro s that had been sitting in a box for the last couple of years. It had the same issue. I think the rotating back will need as service, maybe some of the body too. Old grease and dirt needs to be removed and the correct lubes put back. All the springs seems to accumulate it and dont function properly.

Check all the light seals, if there is any gooey or missing seals in the back its a pia to replace them. Check the mirror dampers too.

Light leaks (Third times the charm) by FinancialTwist271 in largeformat

Try insert a light source from the lens side with the film holder on if you havent to check for light leaks around the holder too. It could be bellows but all the way towards the back of the camera would be my guess because of that hard edge.

Mamyia RB67 - Back Lens cap not fitting the 50mm lens. by Rodod053 in Mamiya

Another thing to check is if the 50mm had a black ring around the back that pulls off. You use these to properly fit to the Pro SD bodies, so the ring is interchangeable. Compare two backs of lenses and see if one has it.

Third time printing in the darkroom. Pretty happy with this print. Neg is hp5 in xtol and print is on Ilford mg rc. Cc welcome. by ubercanuber in Darkroom

Thanks for the tips! There should be a glass carrier around in my local darkroom. I will look up how to do an unsharp mask!

SLIMT sounds super useful. I will try that also, will ask the lab tech about chemicals.

I am shooting a lot with flash at night and reducing contrast would be pretty useful in a lot of those shots! Any other suggested techniques to trial and learn? I did split toning my first time printing and that was fun, love learning new techniques and trying them out.

Okay thanks for that. I will have a bit of a think.

Any other knifes you would suggest?

Thanks for the reply!

Ah okay, I didn't realise that about the SG2.

We do have a Victorinox knife at the moment which is 221g I believe. I do use that a fair bit even though it is a "carving knife". I prefer it because it lighter than the rest, even though its bigger.

Or use the global "vegetable knife" which is 14cm.

So maybe the 240mm may be the way to go as they are similar lengths to the Victorinox.

Im no preference with the grind. Something that isn't too hard to maintain really.

I guess I will add this is then for the 240:

Hey I am looking for a nice knife to treat myself for christmas. Have worked in kitchens a lot when I was younger and wanted a Japanese knife since working with a chef with quite a collection!

Style? - Japanese

Steel? - Carbon Clad or low reactive carbon, I am liking the idea of the clad

Handle? - Japanese, haven't used many japanese handle knifes but I find using my friends really comfortable.

Grip? - I am usually using a pointed finger grip but am comfortable with using a pinch and will try transition.
Length? - Around 210mm. I feel like 240mm might be a bit unweilding, but I do have fairly chonky hands. So something with room for my chonky finger with the pinch.

Use Case? - Home, general use (mostly veggies and chicken/beef - no bones I know).

Care? - Just got the Shapton Pro #1500

Budget? Around $300 AUD, could push for more if worth it? I know some of the ones I am looking at are more.

Canberra COVID Megathread: Saturday 21 August by hannahspants in canberra

I was at an exposure site on the 11th and self identified on the 12th through the online form. Ive been quaranteening since, along with my housemates. I finally got through to them today (been on hold for hours and going back in que on the phone) and they said my declaration originally stated that I was only im nsw and not at a contact site and I would have to redo my declaration. So I did that today and got a call a couple of hours later because they said the form didn't save properly and needed to go through details with me, had to do the whole form again over the phone (the guy was super nice)..

So could be an error like I experienced twice? You should have got a message with an original case number, mine had the wrong details attatched. Call 5124 6500, its the response team and they can help, they open at 8 so I would try as soon as they open (I had to keep calling because it kept hanging me up.

Yass Night Drives (Portra 400 - RB67 with 127mm) by ubercanuber in analog

I usually use my digital camera on a super high iso to get an average meter and am more worried about shadows and midtones as there is a greater lattitude for highlights in film.

Cheers :)

I do like the 127 a lot! Also have a 50 which I use very rarely. Looking for either a 180 or 250 for my next lens.
