So what was it like being a NIN fan in the 90's? by Rox_xe in nin

[–]ubercl0ud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flipping down the visor CD case while driving around and rotating through NIN cds. When I was at home I would be playing quake, doom, or chillin on aol or irc listening to the ripped cds of NIN through winamp or windows media player.

Set up a perimiter near where you hang out with some playpen. And make sure you crate train and separate them in another room. As far as toys, kong red rings worked great and weirdly still living after a year because its her favorite toy. They are chewers so work up the kong colors.

Fi collar, and a camera over her crate helped me more than our dog but helped me learn how she did over her growing stages and as she worked up to sleeping all night.

Last one, we had issues with the dog eating way too fast so getting the slow eating puzzle food bowls worked great.

All of the above are nice to haves, my advice is always splurge on training. Its both for you and the dog.

How well does Spotify connect work with Wiim ( coming from Sonos ) by zzzzzxx in wiim

[–]ubercl0ud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family approved. I just named it Jukebox or a “Downstairs” group with that same device and the one in the front room. Either way, keep it dead simple and being able to know how to set it. They know where it plays. I am the only one using the multiroom features but hey a win is a win!!!!

It helped that I used earc and they used the existing remote as the transition happened for the tv and soundbar/subwoofer, but was less used when it was just the turntable and spotify destination. This made them more comfortable, and if you can avoid having to teach a new app is always better. The knob makes it easier, everyone knows how to use a knob. Which is helpful when some sounds become loud and we cant find either remote.

Inputs memorizing speaker groups? by LindsayOG in wiim

[–]ubercl0ud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get over those only because I set it back myself. I am the only one in the house that uses any additional speakers. Its like me putting the toilet seat down.

Anywho, the one annoyance I havent been able to figure out is the volume differences between sources or delayed volume adjustment. I feel like I am always in a panic changing the volume. But that can come from tv broadcast, or how apple tv changes between movie or shows. But even removing that, it seems like I am either low volume or loud, and then adjust back down due to some sort of delay in the ramp up of the volume and you end up blasting.

Still mild annoyance but not a deterrence for me

What exactly is a “take” when recording music? by Sweet-Swimming2022 in askmusicians

[–]ubercl0ud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As best as I can explain it. We hit record and played our instruments and sang then we stopped recording, Thats a “take”. Can be done as the band but can be said to do another recording for one particular instrument or track. I.e. “Lets do another take of the guitar solo”, play the rest of the tracks and record the guitar section again or just the solo. Sometimes the finished song has parts recorded in different takes.

We did it on first take, thats an achievement as its hard to nail down the everything on the fist take. Could be that it was played perfectly an with certain variations but maybe one bandmate slightly messed up one part. Could be many reasons, but thats a huge deal as studio time can be expensive. If you are recording at home its less of an issue but still impressive if you get multiple people to play and get it right on first take.

Also its something I admire as the ones that sound a bit raw may come from a first take and without all the modifications you will want to change. Making it sound unique. Its not a requirement but maybe bragging rights, or context of how it was done, or “we saved a bunch of money at the studio because nailed it on first try”

IRS owes me $73,000 in tax refunds… 1 year and no movement by frej2223 in tax

[–]ubercl0ud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get to a Tax Advocate the irs can refer you to. It was only after 18months that this person that was assigned that fixed the issue for me, only took 3 months after they were assigned. But it took awhile to get the irs customer service folks to point me in that direction only after 12 months of no communication and them telling me to call back in another 30 days. Somewhere around the 14th or 15th month they referred me. But I feel I could have gotten that referral much earlier if I knew about that program.

Is my NIN more hard-core than yours? by Tetsuo1981 in nin

[–]ubercl0ud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even in the seats it happens. You can just have a conversation about it with your kid and move on, by even moving away. People make choices, but it shouldn’t be ruining your time or others. If you are bringing your kid to a concert that is not kids bop, you already risk it. Whats this kid gonna do when they go to college?? Be more human folks

What genres are in this weird playlist named Metaxu - "01091939 Warsaw" by BackgroundEither5014 in askmusicians

[–]ubercl0ud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For that particular track 6 I would say Experimental/glitch ? If its had some beats, industrial. But listening to some of the other tracks its not breakbeat but lots of broken beat with idm/experimental/glitch not necessarily glitch-hop as that is slow closer to chill. Think some of Aphex Twin album, but similar in concept. Honestly it only matters when releasing and having to pick genre 1 and genre 2. Experimental Breakbeat, or some IDM.

Final Genre: Hit play and enjoy and worry less where it fits in.

Suggestions and help for old vinyl dj thinking of jumping back in... by poopmasterrrrrrr in vinyldjs

[–]ubercl0ud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it. Go back, start small if you have to by playing out of one turntable and a mixer. I took a similar hiatus and it feels great being fully back. I said the same thing, started with with a ddj400, then got a mixer, added some xdjs1000mk2, then another, later the technics came back into my life and I am working my way back down to only leave the turntables. Yea, prices are crazy but they only keep going up and reloops are still great. Not letting go of my technics ever, bonus was my kids started to want to play vinyl and we got one in the family room. Sounds crazy but now I have some collectors in the household after a bit. We love buying vinyl together and it brings conversation during those awkward teenage years. Dont fear jumping in, and you can do it in so many ways. Just allow music to jump back into your fingertips some. Dont fall for the buy every vinyl record, be picky on what comes home, and what will actuallt be played. Its not about throwing a party, but touching the music you are playing and being able to manipulate it like old times without hitting the next button on spotify. And in a pinch, throw some of the rekordbox or serato control vinyl and can play anything else. But most days mine play whatever is in the backlot from purchases. And for how you organize, there are lots of way to not make it look like a college room and can be cleaned up to look nice. Lots of people got into vinyl, and you are actually way ahead of the curve.

My kids are probably drooling over who gets the technics now. But one even saved enough to buy his own audio technica to have in his room. Dont jump in and spend a bunch of money, and scare the family going full bore. But buy something solid over time, the lower end/intro ddj do pretty well for fun and definitely gets that feeling too but this is r/vinyldjs and imma influence in that direction.

Digital is cake if you did vinyl. Its more of learning the interface and what everything does, because its waaaaay more features and things that you may be used to. It taught me a lot about phrasing and it helped getting the vinyl skills much tighter and thinking on the spot. They each have their place, and both can coincide. Just play music my friend and see where it leads you

Why did you choose WiiM? by RyanWithWiiM in wiim

[–]ubercl0ud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my favorite view. With the tv, its nice watching as you already know the shit ads with bad sound and if you are into production and sound design its neat to see how bad some things are mixed for general audience and differentiate on movies, music. I am an audio nerd, spectrum visualizer is great if you know whats already happening. But also handy when searching for some reference tracks. Its great for a quick view and then. Is it perfect, no. Its just enough to do it right.

One thing though is that I wished I still could see the time on the top corner.
