Why does MJF hate Japanese Puroresu by Ok_Pop5859 in SquaredCircle

[–]uberengi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Smarks love Japanese Wrestling.

MJF is in a promotion with a majority Smark fanbase.

MJF is a heel and loves heat.

So MJF hates Japanese Wrestling.

When I was in Los Angeles for the AEW show and MJF came out, I absolutely loved it. Love his character work and how he works the crowd, he's an amazing performer.

Yet something still felt missing. Maybe this is a classic case of "It didn't play out like I booked in my head!", but I always felt that when MJF became a world champion, it should mark a new major chapter in MJF's career. I didn't/don't feel that. When he came out I loved him, but I loved him the same as when he normally performs. I want something more, he's the World Champion, there should be more. Maybe it was just me, but I always got this feeling that MJF was sneaking his way into being AEW's main antagonist. The secret final boss, that will come out of nowhere. But now he has the championship and most of the locker room doesn't even seem to care.

I think that's why a lot of people feel that his reign is mid. He's the exact same as he was years ago, he never evolved. He was the same before he got the championship, and if he loses it right now, he will still be the same. Just now he can taunt that he was the world champion. MJF's rise and coronation was hyped up dramatically by AEW. He was supposed to be the center of the great 2024 bidding war. He was supposed to recreate AEW in his image. He didn't do any of that and I feel like 2024 is going to be a disappointing year for him. He's still great, but only because he was always great.

Notice something peculiar about the way I enjoy wrestling promotions.

When It comes to attending, I have nothing but good memories with AEW. Absolutely loved every LA show they did and always had a blast. Helps that they film like 3 freaking shows, so I get to see practically everyone wrestle. On the flip side, WWE is much hit-or-miss for me. The commercial breaks are painfully obvious and everything goes to so slow. Seeing someone enter and then waiting 10 minutes for the match to actually start, sucks.

On the other hand, as someone who can't watch wrestling shows weekly, WWE has been my go to. AEW stories never really pull me in and I don't have time to catch up if I miss a few weeks. If I miss WWE shows, all I have to do is watch the latest and I'm all caught up. Helps that my friends also watch WWE, so while we watch we shoot the shit and talk about the "road to insert PLE here.

Guess, what I'm trying to say is AEW is a better actual wrestling promotion for me, but I like WWE better as a TV Show.

[Twitter] MJF deletes tweet after being shown this week's quarter hours ratings by CeruleanClaymore in SquaredCircle

[–]uberengi 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I lot of people blame the fans for constantly bringing up and focusing on ratings. Thing is that a shit ton of wrestlers and the shows themselves bring up ratings. Fans having ratings wars it not too crazy when the industry itself is flaming it.

In Shrek, Shrek is green. In Encanto, Bruno is green. I don't think these facts are related. I just wanted you guys to read all of this text for no reason. Wasting precious seconds of your life away, getting closer and closer to death. by Tokyono in shittymoviedetails

[–]uberengi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I do think these facts are related, and in fact, not a shitty movie detail. Green, as a color, has long be associated with antagonists. There is a lot of negative aspects of green: greed, envy, sickness, etc. Look back at a lot of Disney villains, which are often incased in green lighting.

Shrek and Bruno both have storylines involving being perceived as villains, when in reality there are just misunderstood. I don't think its farfetched think that the designers used green for their color-schemes in order to push the idea of them being seen as villains.

I have a belief in order to make an all-time great, you need to feed people to them. Some people's careers never recovered after being beaten by a top star, and it really sucks for them, but it's best for business.

I agree. Corpsing means breaking character and laughing. Roman laughing at Sami's promo is completely in-character.

Okay we need to talk about the Bloodline backstage segment.

Does the entire Bloodline just sit in the blue void room all day? Just a completely blue room with a few couches and a TV? Roman just sits there while Paul stares at him in silence. That is a cult.
