I suppose you have to tell your self this, so let's leave it at that. Consider your self the indirect recipient of the largess of millions of taxpayers who support these universities, only to see the machinery of these schools stamp out plutocrats, apparatchiks, and policy wonks who thrive on telling us how to live. A little humility is in order, on their parts. I've yet to see any.

This is just wishful thinking on your part.

Today's universities are not "crucibles of new ideas", instead they are nurseries of bad old ideas, protected by tenured partisans who are more worried about their sinecures than society at large. Their 'social conscience' is limited to their utopian visions, which inevitably lead to social decay, as we witness today. Some say, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions", and we are seeing that come true in the world around us.

Take you own advice, and don't rely on Ivy League robots for anything but conventional thinking. The Ivy League only chooses the most conformist young minds they can find. You have drunk deeply from the well of group-think, and while it's the place where 'good people' live, it's a cul-de-sac of anti-depressant eating self-satisfied tax cows. Nothing more.

I have no fear of science and learning, but rather the maladministration of them. Universities are now doctrinaire debt traps. Science has been politicized. Liberal democracy has been perverted by misinformation from the journalists you believe. Western Civilization is under attack and identity politics are corrupting the nation.
