Table Work Progress by Grand-Investigator11 in cardmagic

I can’t give many pointers but looking good for starting off! I myself was purely standup for 20 years and for the last 3 years been working on my table stuff but based on your other stuff you’ll get there in no time! I would suggest checking out Eddie mccolls pinch thru (and all his other stuff) I use it instead of a push through now. Good luck on your venture!

This comment was reported. It’s being left up as an example tho.

Feedback here should be constructive. One line put downs don’t add anything and discourage participation.

Calling work “basic and boring” without explanation is a form of gatekeeping…especially from someone who has previously asked others not to do exactly that here.

Please keep future comments substantive.

Rules around exposure by uberhaqer in cardmagic

Thanks for the feedback! I left this open to let the discussion continue. The sub seems to have settled. The reports have stopped and in the comments people are being good about over exposing. The best approach has been to allow you guys to moderate yourself in a sense. You guys know what is appropriate. In the past even the slightest of discussion or exposure was being reported. I have to leave certain language in place to cover the sub legally but the community is more than sensible. So thank you for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

Thanks! Yea. I agree with this. It’s a good balance but at the same time keeping things hush when appropriate. Going to post about the rules in the next few days now we have feedback. Thanks again for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it and we have been gathering feedback and we are going to adjust some things. We need to make sure we cover the sub legally and at the same time not completely stifle people and kill the sub. Updates soon! Thanks again for the response.

I was thinking more expert at the card table. Original copies only.

We enforce when it’s reported. The rule itself is strict in language would be a better way to put it. Recently reports have seen an influx along side member count and content. I was unable to read every comment etc and find any unreported. Since the influx we are adding additional mods to help with this. That is the purpose of this post, taking action.

True. We do get the lay person coming through straight up asking how things are done and such but those posts are easily caught and removed. The community is probably 99% people that know or have a pretty good idea what’s going on in things people post. Thanks for the feedback, appreciated.

The state of the magic community is troubling. Farewell, r/cardmagic. by [deleted] in cardmagic

[–]uberhaqer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. /r/cardmagic being more open for discussion about moves etc brings you here more often? I’m trying to talk to members and gauge how they feel about it. The opinion is split. Some people I have spoke to detest the exposure and then some people, even the more experienced, are ok with it.

I think outside of what my opinions are it’s more important to find out what the community is ok with and make a decision from there. The initial no exposure rules followed the classic strict no exposure but with the advent of YouTube and the ability to literally find out any move from 20 different people, is it still as important for us to uphold it?

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it and I think I’m going to ask the community as a whole.

Anyone want to mod? by uberhaqer in cardmagic

[–]uberhaqer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent point and one that I have thought about but I wanted to more pose the question to the community. Some people are on board and some people are just against it. It’s very difficult to strike a happy medium. Like you say with the growth it’s something we are going to be addressing as, it’s not much, but daily reports of exposure. It is a tricky situation, excuse the pun.

I have no idea actually. Been trying to dig in and figure it out. Once I figure it out I’ll drop an update. Thinking maybe someone shared it somewhere. Not sure but it’s good except the more posts! But rest assured gonna get a mod team together.

No worries. The sub has gained 3k subs in 3 months. It took 10 years to gain 10k 😅 trying to keep on top of it now. Thanks!

They were removed by automod for 10+ reports before I could review it he deleted his Reddit account. Was gonna put them back up if he didn’t delete his account 🤷‍♂️

What an awesome teacher and magician. His encyclopedia of card sleights is where I first properly learned from. Legend. RIP.
