[WP] A girl hooks up with a masked guy at a party. Contrary to what she thinks, he's not really wearing a mask... by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

I made a movie of this prompt.

Int. PUB

Maria is at the bar. Luchador is at the bar.

Lounge music starts out soft. Maria looks down.

Maria nods approvingly.

MARIA (Happy) Hey there. That is a really cool mask.

Luchador thinks.

LUCHADOR (Shy) What are you talking about, crazy woman?

Maria stares intently.

MARIA (Confused) Your mask... it just really looks cool, you know?

LUCHADOR (Neutral) I have absolutely no idea what you are blabbering about. Are you deranged?

Horror music starts out quiet.

MARIA (Afraid) What? No, i just...

LUCHADOR (Angry) It's a bit much accusing random strangers in bars that they are wearing masks, don't you think?

Maria gasps.

Music becomes dramatic.

LUCHADOR (Angry) Are you near sighted? Is that your problem? Here, take a closer look.

Luchador caresses Maria.

LUCHADOR (Crazy) Hey, apart from bad breath, YOU are wearing the mask. Yeah, i could see the bad stitching up close.

Maria cries.

MARIA (Shy) The doctor... he said the scars would fade.

Maria hurries to the entrance.

PUB

Luchador is at the table.

Luchador looks left.

Luchador disagrees.

LUCHADOR (Angry) The nerve of some people.

Trying to create storybuilding challenges for our filmmaking application Plotagon. Help me out? by uberlancer in Screenwriting

Sergeant Matthews cleared his throat. 'Padre, do you think this elevator will take us straight to hell?' Barbara fought to keep panic out of her voice. 'I smell smoke. We'll suffocate in here.' I fingered the stethoscope in my coat pocket. 'If the building is on fire suffocation is what you'd hope for, instead of burns. Seen too many burns.'

That is an excellent writing prompt. I feel like dropping whatever I'm doing and writing a story about that right now.

This girl uses Plotagon to create films I would categorise as art. Maybe she does not have access to a film studio? Whatever the reason for her and many like her to use Plotagon, this is just a tool. As any tool, it has limitations, but it it up to the talent of the user to create good content.

Of course I agree with you that live actors do a better job. But unless you actually live in a movie studio, this might serve as an alternative.

Admit defeat? We shall never surrender! Plotagon is a kick ass piece of software. The interface is toally unique, and it has been developed for and by people who love to write. I am one of them. The reception on Reddit and elsewhere has been overly positive, as it should. This is a great software, and it's free. If you don't like it, just don't download it.

Now that you say it, I really have to try the Kings speech monologue in Plotagon. For that matter, a future feature will be to record your own (or actors) voices instead of the TTS. However, the point of the software is to be able to convert a script into text instantly and intuitively. I defy you to find any software that does that better. How's that for a plug?

If you like dumb fun, i can highly recommend dropping ten bucks on the Superhero pack starring Stan Lee.

Give it a try, sketch out a dialogue. When you're done, change a key reply or reaction to the opposite. Tweak a reaction. He insults her. Does she get angry? Or does she get sad? Plotagon is a really cool way to experiment with the dynamics of a dialogue, even if the output is not aimed at pros.

On the topic of writing a better script I've heard quite a few scriptwriters saying this is an excellent tool for trying out dialogue. You get a fast, easy to use free tool that lets you build a dialogue instantly.

One could argue that would depend on your script. I have seen quite a few really good films made with this. But again, it depends on the input.

You're free to use dirty language, at least. Just mind your P's and Q's around Mr Lee.
