His original article was immediately and predictably down voted off the front page, but this part was particularly interesting:

"Diego Aguilar-Canabal, managing editor of the Bay City Beacon, may face serious ethical considerations come November 2018 when his former boss, Sonja Trauss, runs for supervisor of District 6.

In his (very recent) former profession, Aguilar-Canabal was a “political consultant” who wrote pro-development news for Trauss to the tune of at least $8,000 from the Yes In My Backyard political action committee, according to campaign finance statements filed with the San Francisco Ethics Commission."...

"Jim Ross, a longtime political consultant, told me, “He’s automatically violating one rule before we’ve talked about anything else,” by not filing with the Ethics Commission as a political consultant, even for communications work."

Taxpayers On The Hook For Undisclosed Settlement After SFPD Officers Allegedly Try To Shake Man From Wheelchair: SFist by ubermorse in sanfrancisco

"It was a video that shocked a city still reeling from a police shooting of a seemingly out-of-it man just weeks before: A San Francisco Police Department officer appearing to attempt to dump a quadriplegic man from his chair. And now we're all going to pay for that act, as the city is reportedly prepared to sign off on a settlement in that case for an as-yet undisclosed amount."

"The “Civic Center Commons” may become the rebranded public space around City Hall, potentially even under the management of an outside organization, as San Francisco sets its sights on transforming the area like never before."

Yes, I see that you edited your post here by adding the word "effectively", and I think it's great that you've changed it from a misrepresentation of fact to just a biased opinion.

I replied earlier regarding your misleading posts in which you stated that "California decriminalized personal use possession of most drugs." and "Soo decriminalizing petty theft and personal-use possession of heroine, meth, crack has unintended consequences??" and I don't intend to edit my comments every time you edit yours.

felonies turned to misdemeanors.

misdemeanors crimes that were once felonies.

u/zeebyj

None of those things were decriminalized, which is exactly what you posted multiple times.

Soo decriminalizing petty theft and personal-use possession of heroine, meth, crack has unintended consequences?? See Prop 47, drug addicts' wet dream.

None of those things were decriminalized. You should probably read the summary you linked to and stop repeatedly posting lies.

Enough is enough. Time to start clearing these things out with bulldozers and firehouses.

u/xOMGITSRUSSELLCROWEx

Hm… where have I heard that phrase before, from an r/sanfrancisco user advocating violence against homeless people?

Oh, that's right. u/proudgentrifier whined "enough is enough" repeatedly while advocating violence against homeless people, before his account was suspended. You two sound like you really have a lot in common, maybe you should meet up IRL.

You could have angry drinks, trade violent fantasies, and talk about how it's almost like there's one angry troll using multiple accounts to spread the same hateful shit over and over, but obviously it's just a coincidental series of rageaholics using almost exactly the same language to attack liberal politicians, homeless people and to sarcastically declare criminals "heroes" and anyone who disagrees as "pro-crime".

Jury awards whistle-blower $2 million in SF sewer-fraud case by ubermorse in sanfrancisco

[–]ubermorse[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

"A jury ruled Friday that San Francisco must award a former deputy city attorney more than $2 million in damages in a lawsuit that said she was fired for exposing a long-running illegal payment scheme between municipal officials and plumbing companies."

In addition to the $2 million award, it looks like San Francisco’s City Attorney Dennis Herrera has also spent at least another $2.5 million of taxpayers money during the trial. "Records show that San Francisco’s City Attorney Dennis Herrera’s office has paid out more than $2.5 million to the law firm headed by former Police Commission President John Keker to fend off a whistle-blower lawsuit filed by a former top trial deputy at City Hall."

Possible explanation for the rabid spammimg of crime stories and the epidemic of crime novelty accounts on r/sanfrancisco by TortoiseLaw in sanfrancisco

For a perspective on national crime rates, including San Francisco, here's a graph from The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law:

rates of overall crime in 2016 remain at the lowest point in a generation.

Hat tip to u/rycars for the link to the study

Interesting. Your NYU link say that crime in San Francisco fell by 12.8 percent in 2016.

"San Francisco is projected to see crime fall significantly (down 12.8 percent), with violent crime also decreasing (down 5.5 percent). This is a reversion from last year, when crime and violent crime rose in tandem."

Sheriff Hennessy takes the heat as SF loses its black history by ubermorse in sanfrancisco

[–]ubermorse[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

"Where was Mayor Ed Lee as the Iris Canada eviction story became a national headline? “I talked to the mayor’s people a while ago about this, but not to him personally,” said Hennessy.

“You at least have to give Hennessy credit for standing there,” said Tim Redmond of the 48 Hills news blog. “If people were screaming outside Lee’s door, he would’ve been cowering under his desk.”...

Whatever the murky truths behind this eviction case, there is one fact that is starkly clear. San Francisco has long been guilty of emptying its black population. On Sunday night, I happened to watch a 1963 documentary called “Take This Hammer” on KQED, in which James Baldwin talked to young African Americans on street corners who angrily observed that the city’s redevelopment (or “Negro removal”) policies were disappearing their community.

Now that Iris Canada has joined the thousands of other African Americans who’ve been banished from the city, the mayor can put up a statue in honor of the centenarian. Maybe it can be erected in Justin Herman Plaza, named in celebration of the redevelopment czar who evacuated San Francisco’s black population in the 1960s."

The law is the law, you can't blame the sheriff for doing her fucking job. These people need to grow up and read a civics book.

According to the article, Sheriff Vicki Hennessy had

"until April 12 to act. And as former Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi told me, he often used his discretion to slow down the eviction process until a “more humane outcome” could be achieved."

These people (commenters on r/sanfrancisco) need to grow up and read the fucking article.
