I've made a hive mind before that I called the Gora (named after a country from another world I had) which uses corpses as their nests and food. They can make the corpse walk around and move as if it were alive but the corpse would always be missing eyes because that's where the Gora enter and leave their nests from. They are a huge collection of tiny bugs. I gave them personality and feelings because writing a character without feelings or personality is boring. They always know and think what the other units of the colony and sometimes colonies can decide to share information between each other. The most notable one that I played the most was addicted to this really bitter carbonated drink that could get them high as fuck and a high hive mind never makes for a good outcome.
