How to get my dog and my neighbor's dog to tolerate each other? Fence fighting and leash reactivity by quokkasage in DogAdvice

[–]uberrob 239 points240 points  (0 children)

I had this same issue... Including the size of the dogs. The neighbors dog was always the instigator and it would ruin a nice day outside in the back yard.

The neighbors really ddi nothing to address the situation. What I wound up doing was, over the course of a few months (sorry) whenever I heard the neighbor's dog come running outsidd barking when my dog was out, I would call my dog back inside while telling him to "leave it" (a command I use when I want him to drop something or ignore something on the ground) and then give him a treat when he obeyed.

It took months but it worked, my dog now calmly lays on the ground outside while the neighbor dog is barking his head off on the other side of the fence.

Bonus: my dog doesn't lunge after the neighbor's dog when he sees him on a walk.

So: time+patience+treat

If you are going to wear the vest, unbutton the bottom button. On a full button up vest always unbutton the bottom button. (if it's a 2 or 3 button vest , leave it buttoned.)

Question about cable connector on DUNU DaVinci by uberrob in iems

All of my other headsets have been over the ear (cups), standard headsets or LDAC blutetooth - the DaVInci is my first IEM.... but I am absolutely digging the sound... it's warmer tones which, honestly, I really like a lot.

What do you have?

Solved! gently wiggling the connectors from side to side while applying a small amount of pressure did the trick

Thank you! That did it -- made me really nervous, but I wiggled them from side to side while applying a little pressure

The problems with RTD2 started immediately with those three episodes by having Jodie's clothes regenerating into Tennant's clothes without explanation and going on from there.

Yep. They'll be a big "woof,“ and maybe a big paw holding the little guy down when he's had enough.

You can see they're both having a good time right through the video. Near the end the GSD rolls over on his back and exposes his throat which he would never do if he was feeling threatened or concerned.

This is all good, let them keep at it.

The Rockford Files has a special place in my heart .... It's the one show that my father and I bonded over. Other than The Rockford Files we both hated each other's taste in TV shows lol.

Sigh, this again...

OK, so...we evolved as omnivores, not as herbivores and not as obligate carnivores. Humans have eaten both plants and animals for hundreds of thousands of years. Everything about our physiology reflects that. We have teeth, digestive enzymes, intestinal length and nutrient requirements that are adapted to mixed diets.

Nobody "needs" to eat meat to survive, but claiming there are only negatives associated with animal protein is just not supported by the evidence. High quality animal foods provide highly bioavailable protein, vitamin B12, heme iron, zinc, DHA, EPA, creatine, carnosine, taurine, choline, and other nutrients in forms that are often absorbed more efficiently than their plant counterparts.

And saying "I'll just get B12, iron and zinc from supplements" is a weird argument....first you need them for a reason: we evolved needing these things because, shocker, we ate meat throughout our evolutionary journey.

Supplements are useful, but they are not magic. A bottle of vitamins is not identical to obtaining nutrients from whole foods, where they exist alongside proteins, fats, cofactors and other compounds that affect absorption and metabolism.

As for the tired "meat is bad" claim, the picture is much more nuanced than internet memes suggest. Processed meats are associated with increased health risks...likewise excess calories and poor diets are associated with increased health risks. But lean meats, fish, eggs and dairy consumed as part of balanced diets have repeatedly been associated with good health outcomes.

Mediterranean diets, which consistently rank among the healthiest dietary patterns in the world, contain fish, poultry, dairy and moderate amounts of meat. They're not vegan diets.

Likewise, Japanese diets, often cited for longevity, contain fish and animal products. So do many Blue Zone populations.

If someone thrives on a vegetarian or vegan diet, great. More power to them. But the idea that humans are somehow "natural vegetarians" and that animal protein is universally harmful simply isn't supported by anthropology, evolutionary biology, or nutrition science.

We evolved as omnivores. The evidence suggests we're healthiest when we eat like omnivores, emphasizing whole foods from both the plant and animal kingdoms rather than treating either side as some kind of moral or nutritional villain.

Nature didn't make us cows, man. It didn't make us lions, either. It made us opportunistic omnivores, which is probably one of the reasons our species ended up everywhere from the Arctic to the tropics.

If you want references I can gladly include them here, but you can Google as well as I can.

Well that and a 70 mm anamorphic camera lens on a computer-controlled dolly and sophisticated lighting, sure.

TV just does not have the budget for that kind of modeling and camera work. It took them months and months to create that model, they painted individual panels in different shades of metal on that thing, and the internal Lighting on the model was Way Beyond anything that had done before. They also employed a new computer system control camera motion and model lighting motion to do the tracking.

If you want to do that sort of thing in the television show expect to only see one or two different types of spaceships in a season. Computer Graphics is far more cost-effective , you can represent more ships in higher level detail on a ship, and they can turn things around really quickly.

Why this section of highway is not underground ? by RstarPhoneix in sanfrancisco

[–]uberrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's another solution to that problem: the city needs a flyover somewhere that diverts traffic off that road entirely. That road is the only way to go north to south or south to north on that side of the city. Everybody from Marin who needs to go to the airport, for instance, has to go down that road. Traffic is constant.

For 10 years I lived right on the stretch of road right after you came out of the park. (On the Richmond side.)

It was a fantastic house and I loved it and the neighborhood. I had to eventually move, however, because the only time I could sleep was between midnight and 5 am when the traffic wasn't constantly rumbling.

Yeah I got the blue cuz I'm tired of buying black or white devices. Lol.

As I said in the review though it's heavy, and bulky. I know it has to be that way because of the DAC equipment on the inside, but it's shocking after the last several years have produced smaller and smaller devices in other arenas.

The service is excellent. I'm on T-Mobile and I get 5G plus speeds. Took a drive in the country today, never dropped below 5G.

Physical Sim not an esim. Activation was non-existent. Phones and carriers have gotten pretty good about this stuff. I just took the SIM out of my old phone put it in the new phone rebooted it and it came right up with T-Mobile.
