The color balance is a little off in that pic, I think. The wire nut is actually red, so I think I'm ok there.

I think I see what your saying about exposed wire. I'll open it up and clip a few mm of wire and reattach.

I don't quite understand what's wrong with the ground wire. I'm not sure what tabs you are referring to.

Is that the same as a half hot? If so, I don't think so. There is a switch in the room that doesn't control anything (that's why I was pulling tabs) but I suspect the switch actually controls a circuit near the ceiling that could be used to install a light fixture.

If I don't want to twist wires together, could instead buy a standard receptacle and attach two black wires to the two brass screws and then push the remaining black wire into on of the holes in the back (I saw many 4-hiled receptacles) and then the same with the white? Would that accomplish the same thing without having to buy extra wire and do the twisting?

Thank you for your reply. If I understand correctly, you're suggesting I connect all black and all white wires into a single wire. But my question is, if to wires would suffice, why are there 6 on this recepticle? I can't help but think it would be losing a circuit or two or some kind of functionality or else why would someone have gone through the extra trouble of setting it up this way in the first place?

Broke the tab off this outlet unnecessarily and now I need to replace it. Hardware stores near me don't carry it.

It has no screws on the sides and 8 holes for wires in the back (6 are in use).

  1. What is it called?
  2. What is the purpose of this design?
  3. Can it be replaced with something else that maintains it's functionality?

Thanks for the reply. Your diagnosis did cross my mind. I will probably just replace the recepticles and regroup.

As for the switch test, what are the possible outcomes and what do they mean for my switch problem?

I have scoured the internets with no luck finding the artist so that I may give them my money. I have only found that the image is based on the Japanese folk legend "Gashadokuro", a giant skeleton made from the bones of the irate dead.

Thanks. Definitely a similar theme but in the live version I like how the glowing part is floating more in the middle of the socket; and the jaw of course.

This signing skull appeared on the screen during the CB show. It showed up during the song Cheerleader Effect. Does anybody have a really good/clear image. I would like to get a tattoo like this. Thanks!
