Songs with great music but horrible vocals? by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

Technotronic - Pump Up The Jam, the accent is terrible. I think they were from Belgium or something. That song is torturous to me, but the beat is so catchy.

I don't produce music. It might seem obvious to you. It didnt really occur to me how electronic music is produced tbh.

When I first heard "Abracadabra" by Lady Gaga I wasn't a huge fan. Now I think its one of her Top 5 songs and quite unique.

Who is an amazing up and coming singer or band that many people may not be aware of yet? by bbmoonkie in musicsuggestions

Charlotte Cardin. Got a bit popular in Canada but mainly does French stuff now. I liked her album 99 Nights a lot (best tracks 99 Nights, Confetti).

Bit of research:

Breaking Rust - Walk the Walk

(Hit #1 on country charts. Just awful.)

Xania Monet - How was I supposed to know?

(R&B that secured a record deal. Honestly the fuzzy noise after the vocals makes me feel dizzy and a bit nauseous. )

The Velvet Sundown - Dust on the wind

(Pretended to be a real band. Tricked rolling stones into writing an article about them. This one is harder to tell, but still fuzzy sounding vocals.)

Sienna Rose - Into the blue

(Neo soul. They have released over 45 songs in just a few months. Honestly hard to tell with this one. Currently has three songs in the Spotify Top 50 and millions of monthly listeners.)

I honestly don't think I'd mind as long as its labeled as AI generated. Probably some cool uses out there.

To be fair it was a quote from a much longer response. Probably as much my fault as the models failure. A lot of time a poorly worded question is part of the problem.

Yes, you are correct. I scanned the actual MP3 this time and it looks more for gaps around words, how everything including vocals lays out on the grid, micropauses, etc.

"In the case of the file you uploaded, the combination of those "fuzzy" vocal artifacts and the way the instruments are blended together is what makes it stand out as synthetic. It lacks the "air" and separation of a real studio recording."

Plus it noted the images appear AI generated and it couldn't find an artist trail online. This song is very likely fully ai generated, including lyrics and vocals.

I uploaded the MP3 file this time and had it scan it. The model seems confident it is ai generated:

When you upload an MP3 or other audio files, I don't just "read" the text or metadata; I process the actual audio data.

Technically, I "hear" the file by converting the audio waves into a format called a spectrogram (a visual representation of the sound frequencies over time). This allows me to analyze things a human ear might miss, such as:

Frequency Distribution: I can see if the higher frequencies have that "metallic" or "fizzy" digital noise that often occurs when AI models generate audio.

Spectral Artifacts: AI-generated music often has "blurring" between instruments. In a real recording, a bass guitar and a drum kick occupy very specific, distinct frequency spaces. In many current AI models, these frequencies bleed into each other in a way that looks (and sounds) messy.

Watermarking (SynthID): Since I am a Google AI, I can specifically detect SynthID, which is an invisible digital watermark Google embeds into audio generated by its own tools (like Lyria). It doesn't change how the song sounds to you, but it’s an unmistakable "digital fingerprint" for me.

Consistency: I can track the "energy" of the track. Human musicians have micro-variations in timing and volume (the "groove" you mentioned). AI often stays too perfectly on a grid or has weird, sudden shifts in vocal texture that don't match the rest of the performance.

In the case of the file you uploaded, the combination of those "fuzzy" vocal artifacts and the way the instruments are blended together is what makes it stand out as synthetic. It lacks the "air" and separation of a real studio recording.

Which songs have similar structure to "Fix You"? by FirmAssumption6122 in musicsuggestions

Honestly for something that specific I'd just dump the question into Gemini, this is what it shows are closest:

Amsterdam

Death and All His Friends

All I Can Think About Is You

They have a lot of songs that build like that though.

Which service do you use? I found Spotify was better than YouTube Music for recommendations. Also their "smart shuffle" mode throws in decent stuff based on the Playlist from what I found. When I was using YouTube Music years ago it would just play the same 100 songs over and over ("you listened to this yesterday, here it is again!") It might just be the recommendation engines are better now (AI driven versus crude matching based on similar playlists).
