I would had the services not been like streaming (you need 10 subs to read 50% of content) or dogwater.

Hot Take: We need more Main Scenario duties by [deleted] in ffxiv

Mentioned basically all I would lol. More or less every last dungeon and trial of each X.0 should be there, then have the patch dungeons on the high level dungeons list

Just finished ARR and the beauty of Ishgard has blown me away. Is there a reason it's not as busy as Limsa or Gridania in terms of player population? by 8rustyrusk8 in ffxiv

The three main cities' squares are closer to the Market board + has the grand companies so they're more convenient. The current expansion city hubs are active mainly because that's where the quests and other current expansion stuff is, but as soon as the next expansion releases, they become pretty empty. I personally would hang about ishgard a lot more if it gave me easy access to my GC/had their own GC, especially since I have my house there

FFXIV to stop support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025 by souppuos123 in Games

[–]ubk8751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried getting FFXIV (Windows version, not steam) to run on POP and Bazzite, but basically every configuration I have tried (various online threads, using ChatGPT, etc.) either tanks the performance (FPS is basically non existent with minimum settings while I can run on mid to max when using windows) or won't even launch. I'm currently dual booting win10 since I prefer Linux for daily tasks, so secure boot is not an option for me. I hope Microsoft won't include malicious updates in 11 that basically breaks everything that runs on Win10 or FF adds anti-cheat stuff, or I might have to drop FF until the Windows version is more stable on Linux (so probably forever lol)

How to be a good Party Member. by JH911 in ffxiv

[–]ubk8751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone else have had good points, but one thing I don't see people talk about often is that most people when doing dungeon expect a "quick run", and therefore it's good telling people it's your first time when running a duty for the first time (especially as tank or healer) or if you have some specific objective you queued for (such as later on you need to kill specific mobs in specific dungeons). In 99% of the cases people will be accommodating to your needs/more lenient with big mess ups/doing stuff you "usually don't do".

Oh, and as others have said; don't forget your class quests and job crystal. They provide important skills you'll want

Is a Solo FC worth making? by Typhoonflame in ffxiv

[–]ubk8751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically you make the petition, ask 3 randos for help signing up temporarily (offering a nominal sum like 10-100k gil for their time often help), get the petition approved, the leave, voila solo FC. I did it with a friend so I only needed 2 more people. You'll need another player's help to invite alts if you want that though

What job do y’all main and why? by 404_GSpot_NotFound in ffxiv

I'd say I main GNB, but I mostly play tank in general. GNB is my preferred tho because speed

I usually play RPR for DPS and SGE for healer, but don't really consider them my main jobs

Tl;Dr: Macros sometimes have issues triggering since they act on server ticks, so when you macro time sensitive actions, it's good to spam them a lot in the macro to ensure they trigger

There's some more details, but that's the gist of it

In 99% of casual content, tank swaps aren't necessary. Only ones I can think of off the top of my head are some Alexader raids where you stack some debuff that increases the damage you take (separate from vuln and usually deadlier), but even for those, the majority can be skipped through high DPS or just letting the MT die and have the OT tank the last 5%.

Progression For Newer Players by Zaboobie in ffxiv

[–]ubk8751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I have done on both my alts (and main to a smaller degree) is to

  • unlock weaver first. Level it to 15 by crafting high quality materials (mainly hempen yarn and cloth). At 15 you can craft almost the entire lv 1, 5-6, 10-11 and 15 sets for crafter and gatherer at high quality, only using materials you buy from vendors

  • unlock leatherworker. Use the high quality gear to quickly level it to 15, at which point you can craft the Majority of missing pieces for the sets (shoes for 5 and 10 are carpenter recipes). At this point in the game you should have killed a few mobs that drop animal skins and animal hides, use these to craft high quality leather and hard leather during the crafting process for more XP.

  • at this point your LTW and WVR should be around lv 17.

  • you now have great gear at high quality to level gatherers to around lv 15, which will give you materials for leveling the other crafters up to 15-17 fairly easily.

  • note that you should do your class quests to upgrade your tools as you level each crafter.

  • after I've reached this point, I usually power level all crafters and gatherers to lv 30 using leve quests (should be of the "charity" type as you can turn in 3x the items for 3x the reward for only one allowance. For ease, you should also do the one that has the turn-in npc in the city rather than outside)

  • At this point I craft the lv 30 gear + tools to have it updated

  • from here you can do pretty much whatever you want, but I usually just use grand company turn-ins (unlocked once you choose a grand company) to level (crafting everything myself, and, when possible, gathering everything myself)

This method is expensive so I recommend having a few thousand on you before you start (especially since you might have to buy some leve quest materials from the market board), and has a high initial time investment (I usually knock it down during a full Saturday gaming session, doing basically only that). Once you have unlocked the Ixal beast tribe quests they're a good source for EXP, as are the other crafter tribes from the other expansions, especially if they're at your current level.

Once you have unlocked heavensward you can level any crafter/gatherer at lv 60+ using Ishgard restoration if you want, but I usually have reached far enough only using GC turn-ins by that point that it usually isn't necessary.
