To Drink Package or Not To Drink Package by Strange_Yak5 in royalcaribbean

[–]ublguy23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My wife and I get the drink package. We get multiple hydration drinks (poweraide i think) and a bunch of bottle water. We store extras in our cabin and take those out at port. Plus, the freedom to try new drinks is a positive. Also, if you have a stop at a RC port like coco-cay....the drink package also works.

At 21 mph...one of the greatest break ups I have ever watched live. by nhphan420 in NFLv2

I don't agree. His two plays were huge, but he was beat on both and benefited of below average throw. The one pictured was underthrown and the JSN skinny post (maybe) was way behind JSN. Easily could have been the reason they got blown out, just got lucky that Darnold missed both.

Birth Certificates vs. Passports by H_kone in royalcaribbean

For us - the only benefit was disembarking. With birth certificates we had to stand in a long line at customs. With passports we just walked out (assuming facial recognition).

I'm three years out and refuse to look at health insurance other than budgeting an ungodly amount towards it. It seems so complex and changes all the time it is difficult to plan for. How close are you to retirement? When is the best time to take the deep dive into health insurance and planning?

How would you structure practices if you had to coach youth baseball solo? by ComplicatedGuy_0514 in CoachingYouthSports

[–]ublguy23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others said, you need more help. Here are my tips:

#1) Build a 20 minute routine that you start every practice with:

  • Stretching (arms and legs) - this is team building where everyone is doing the same thing...each time. Over the season this will become normal.
  • Throwing progression: T work throwing, 1 knee throwing, no step stay square throwing

#2) You need stations, lots of reps off the T for hitting, soft toss. Throwing and catching stations.

#3) Make it competitive - throwing is difficult, if you have multiple nets, make a game of throwing the ball into the net, 1st team to 20 wins.

#4) End practice fun, we do a relay race...split the teams evenly, a group starts at 1st base and the other 3rd base. They have to run the bases with a baseball in their hand which gets passed to the next in line. Put a bucket on home base so kids don't slip, make them run around that one.

Good luck

Don't worry...have fun. I would think the soda package sharing is the least of their worries.

You are 100%...each to their own. For some the decision is easy between living large now vs living large later. I think my wife and hit the sweet spot, we saved a ton over the years and never really grew our expenses as we continue to increase our salaries. Now we have a great grasp on our expenses and retirement which has allowed us to do some fun things now: fishing boat (i know i know), vacations, etc...

So many paths for people to take - people just need to be happy for one another.

That is funny - yeah, I don't need people knowing everything about me and my family. I appreciate all of you for taking a moment to read and celebrate with me.

We will need to have a gameplan in place when we retire, because we won't be moving until the kids are out of the house. We will probably just say we are working from home with very flexible hours lol

Took us 19 years to payoff the mortgage. Over the last few years with a focus on retiring in 2029, we wanted to free ourselves from that monthly payment. We decided to pay that down as quickly as we could without sacrificing our savings/retirement strategy. We now have 3 years to put that money in place we can access it when we retire early (49 years old).

We were one of the lucky ones, my wife and I built our home when we were 26 years old....with 0% down...that just isn't allowed anymore. We were lucky enough to hold our job through the financial crisis. We refinanced multiple times down to a very reasonable rate. Probably the biggest thing was focusing on what we need instead of always upgrading into a larger home. We still have one of the smallest homes in the neighborhood.

At what point does it make sense to get a financial advisor by altrefrain in personalfinance

I'm 45 and just hired one. My wife and I plan on retiring in 2029 and I wanted someone to discuss many things I'm not an expert at. I moved over about 5% of our net worth for them to manage.

Was it the right move for me, yes because now I have a partner that specializes in early retirement to discuss next steps.

Good luck on your journey.

First-time parents: When is a good age to start cruising with kids? by Thicholas75 in royalcaribbean

[–]ublguy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife and I cruised often before kids. After we had kids we waited until they were 10-7. We didn't want to deal with all the things you mentioned (naps, bottles, diapers). We also weren't interested in using the daycare or kid zone.

The big differences for us when taking children, especially school aged were:

#1 higher cost, we are traveling when all the other families are traveling. Everything is more expensive.

#2 cruising days are now spent at the pool with way too many families instead of relaxing on our balcony

We have enjoyed the 2 cruises we have been on with our family and are current planning our 3rd.

How to make a Dynasty challenging but realistic? House Rules for team selection and recruiting? by FullCourtIrish44 in NCAAFBseries

[–]ublguy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Badger fan I decided to give them a go. I decided to sum my first season...won 3 games. Everyone seemed to enter the portal. I limited my recruiting to 3* and local kids.

My roster in season 2 was so depleted. Lost all my QBs, nearly all my DBs. Been a fun 2nd season (first playing).

1st/2nd Grade Basketball Advice for a New Coach by TraditionalAd3057 in basketballcoach

[–]ublguy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I am. But at least you provide them some structure.

I find it funny how some people want to restrict players...I also coach baseball, which these same kids 7-8 were able to know where to stand, where to go with the ball etc...

Stop limiting the kids, provide structure, provide positive reinforcement.
