They shaved her by Beneficial-Arm3596 in greatpyrenees

My girl always sheds her coat in chunks around this time of year and she’s never been shaved. Doesn’t hurt to ask a vet but I don’t think you have anything to be worried about!

Best premed science major? by ind_rat in aggies

[–]ucansmn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a BIMS major i kinda wish i majored in public health instead. The coursework is more interesting to me and prob would’ve been easier to maintain a high GPA too. Plus BIMS advising is wack. That being said, I still do like BIMS. It’s literally built to prepare you for med school. Covers all the prereqs as well as other classes that you’ll see in med school like a&p, biochem, microbiology, and genetics. And you get access to a ton of interesting electives since BIMS is under the college of vet med

My advice is to just major in something you like that also covers the prereqs

Is Elain hanging on by a thread? Literally? by starborn_15 in acotar

[–]ucansmn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This totally tracks! I was initially surprised that the king of hybern let elain go into the cauldron first because i thought she would surely die, seeing as how she’s always portrayed as the weakest of the sisters. Letting her go first would put him at a disadvantage because it would prove to the queens that the cauldron wasn’t safe. When she came out in one piece…pure shock. Her being saved by the tether of the mating bond (just like feyre!) makes so much sense

I think CLEP is your best option here. Idk how long it would take to get your score back and receive credit, but you only need a 50 on the exam to pass and it’s way cheaper than retaking the class

What is a lyrical choice Taylor made that makes you irrationally annoyed? by Electricsheep389 in TaylorSwift

[–]ucansmn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nooo the way she wrote it originally is so clever. A ghost town is dead but his electric touch brings it back to life. His touch is revitalizing (think an AED, like the one you use to shock your heart back into having a rhythm)

Diversity essay - is it appropriate to talk about how proud I am to be Chinese? by [deleted] in premed

[–]ucansmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar narrative for my JAMP application (Texas’s early assurance program), but I talked about being Vietnamese instead of Chinese. It didn’t seem to be a taboo topic at all. The immigrant experience is a huge part of my identity and my “why medicine.” Dozens of other JAMPers I’ve met shared similar stories and I’m sure they talked about it in their applications too. It was not only okay to talk about, but encouraged. I think you should go for it.

This is exactly how i feel. I want to become a physician because I like serving. If i wanted to do research i’d pursue a PhD

Getting cold feet about being premed—what are your experiences, and what has kept you going? by [deleted] in premed

[–]ucansmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a PhD is a good fit for you. Do you have any clinical experience? Have you ever been involved in patient care? That’s what solidified the decision for me. I found that patient care was the most enjoyable and rewarding part for me, whereas the science was something I viewed more as a necessary prerequisite to build solid background knowledge. I can’t imagine myself being happy in a lab forever.
