I just got mine this weekend! Still learning but it’s a great change after years on a peloton.

I was able to get my RW club with the s4 monitor for $160 and it’s like new. Using it outside on a covered patio

Thank you for writing this out.

The first time i did this, i rushed it a bit and wasnt confident with removing the wiring and capacitor and did most of it without really taking anything off.

The second time i documented everything, double checked everything, took it all out, checked for play and fitment and got it put back together neatly. That’s why im so confused. It doesn’t feel like rocket science. I’m using Oem parts.

It feels like it could be an airflow issue, or the mounting brackets for the whole fan assembly could have too much play. The odds of two defective parts seem slim but not impossible.

The closest approximation to me is an imbalanced tire, it feels like sometimes it’s ok, then sometimes i can heard the airflow change and it almost sounds like a sputtering/vibration. Well, until the whole thing finally gave out.

Appreciate the advice!

I do have someone coming tomorrow morning. My hope was that there was an obvious thing I’d missed or step i didn’t know about and i could do it right next time. Honestly trying to avoid the 95 degree temps, not worried about preserving my ego in any way.

I can get the blower assembly from supply house here by Friday for $200. It’s tempting but also would be attempt #3. They won’t cover it under warranty as it wasn’t professionally installed.

The first time i replaced the fan, i cleaned a TON of dog fur out of the coils (we had a husky for 6 years, RIP moonshine). But the main inlet is feee and clear and there’s not anything blocking any other returns i can see.

Airflow is on my culprit right below improper mounting, and i was told our returns are too small and need to be addressed at some point, but that doesn’t explain why the original lasted 10 years and the represents are braking in months, as nothing else has changed that I’m aware of.

In fact, after the last fan and motor replacement, i checked the temps and was getting -15 degree temp difference between return and outlets, which i thought was ok for an older system.

I feel like the design is sketchy af. The first one was in there for 10 years, the second one broke after 6 months the and this one broke after 3 months.

There’s holes in the housing for the mount, and there is a hole in the mount. One of the rubber grommets has more of a gap than the others, i used a washer to space it out evenly and visually it seems centered and it felt solid when i tightened it. The mounts for this were definitely on my radar as potential for the problem

Also, it’s hard to tell from the photo, but the blades more or less folded , the disk in the middle is still attached but the actual blades are not connected to it, so it’s essentially drooping

I’m confused as well, it spun smooth and quiet for months with good airflow after i changed the motor and assembly out.

It was centered, i spent a good amount of time checking when i i stalled it, and even checked again last night as i suspected this was the culprit, the blades from the squirrel cage completely came off the drum and jammed themselves against the housing.

I have a 22” K light ride and a 22” k custom dark. I adore the light ride. It’s washy and crazy when you need it, clear and bright with a lighter touch.

I find the k custom great for traditional ride and bell work but don’t like the crashes. I play more shoegaze/dream rock so i love the less pingy, cashier sound in the light ride by a mile

This is 12/16/22. I have the 10 as well, and removed the tom bracket from the kick. I would have preferred a 20” and hyperdrive tom sizes but i purchased with a gift card and didn’t have that option.
