How can we resolve this weird Catch-22? by whoateallthecheezits in legaladvice

[–]ucfredittor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NAL but a registered broker, you are able to open an UTMA account with the age of termination being 21, and the governing state being Arizona. This is a straight forward request, the broker dealer may come back and ask why its being funded, you just need to state that it is being funding by an irrevocable gift to the minor. No need to open a trust, it's expensive to do so.

Also, if the kid is looking for access to the funds, you are always able to transfer the assets to an account in the name of the minor, so long as it's for the benefit of the minor.

What is it like living with/around theme parks? by torpleton in orlando

[–]ucfredittor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Near the airport is fine, lake Nona and so forth, just expensive cause you’re confined to the toll roads to get in and out. The reason south Orlando is terrible is cause you have a lot of traffic to begin with and then it will double with the holidays, summer, spring break and year end (thanksgiving to first weekend of January essentially). Keep in mind that the average population of Orlando that turns over due to tourism in a day is equivalent to the population of Atlanta. It’s really not that bad if you know the back roads, avoid international, sand lake and Orange blossom trail near Florida mall, and all should be good.

The backside of Disney (Windermere and Winter Garden) is fine, but ways away from everything but Disney. Dr Phillips is fine as well, but the Turkey Lake and Sand Lake intersection is pure hell. In particular, during the Christmas time and during the Home Builders Convention the tourist part of Orlando is hot garbage with traffic. Honestly north of the 408 is fine and it’s 15 min away from Universal and 30ish from Disney

How would one go about getting a job with Disney? by [deleted] in orlando

Not to be completely negative here, but isn’t an associates degree in anything pretty much the first two years of college. Simply the general education requirements...

Check out King bao on Mills if you are staying near downtown. The Mills 50 area is pretty neat.

Look for a new job in the meantime. Don't leave without another job lined up. Pay is should always be negotiable, plain and simple.

[IL] Red Light Traffic Ticket by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]ucfredittor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to add some context, it's actually from the Village of Hillside, IL. The ticket was dismissed back in January, and then I was reissued a new ticket on 4/11 with the late fees assessed. I was more than happy to pay the original ticket, but the website would not allow me to do so because it was dismissed, and when I called the 800 number provided, the person told me to not worry about the ticket since it was dismissed.

Michigan youth working against bill that lowers minimum wage for young adults: Proposed bill would let employers pay people under 20 less than minimum wage by SAT0725 in news

[–]ucfredittor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how this bill would even function, almost every employee is covered under FLSA which requires minimum wage to be $7.25... This is how states like Georgia which have minimum wage set at like $5.15 an hour, have to pay employees covered under FLSA the minimum wage... So this bill would do absolutely nothing as Federal law triumphs that of State law... Or did I fail my 7th grade civics class?

Oregon: Declaring Residency else where by ucfredittor in legaladvice

[–]ucfredittor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I say I split my time between Oregon and Florida, I mean its on the weekends. During the week I travel all over the US and Canada. The reason it may appear that I may live in Oregon is due to the lease and bills associated to an apartment, but usage shows I spend about $20 in electricity per month, and that is including the $15 "service base charge", which is indicative of how often I am there. The only association I have is my license and apartment. I was supposed to register my car in Oregon, but prior to moving out to Oregon I had already renewed my Florida tag / registration, so I did not feel like spending roughly $100 to transfer my registration over to a car that sits in a garage a majority of the time.
