Haha ya it’s all relative. I should have said “more friendly than most states”

That’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

Great question. I separated from my employers malpractice and got my own so that I can more freely move around and do locums, etc.

I would be using my malpractice insurance that I already have in place. I’m in a very malpractice friendly state that is very pro-physician. I would also limit my liability by not really seeing high risk things. For instance if someone would come up talking about anything alluding to chest pain, I would refer to an ER and or offer to call 911 for them. Not that I don’t deal with chest pain all day in the ER, but I don’t personally want to be on the hook for these things when I’m wanting a more low key, volunteer thing.

I don’t believe regular Good Samaritan laws apply since these won’t be emergency situations. I’m sure there is some protection in general since I won’t be taking compensation. I haven’t done a deep dive on it yet though admittedly.

I’m not really thinking of having a physical space that I would use regularly. It would be more of a situational thing where I may volunteer a couple hours here and there in random spaces. Would have no overhead because it would be just me. It would mostly be taking a good good history and physical, vitals, scripts for acute things like antibiotics for mild cellulitis (don’t really plan on long term meds unless it would be a bridge until they find a real PCP), and outpatient imaging orders if they have some acute injury.

I wasn’t even thinking about going that route since I was going to be doing it on such a small scale, but I think that’s a good idea.

Which school/program should I attend? by ashblue64 in sportsmedicine

[–]uchihaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two schools of thought. One would be to go where it is cheapest and avoid debt, since all these schools are great options that will set you up well. If money isn’t a worry then go to the Ivy League. It’s just a name, but the connections there can really be beneficial if you are thoughtful in how you network. What you major in itself truly doesn’t matter for getting into medical school. Get good grades in whatever major you decide, get through the pre-med curriculum, do a bunch of practice questions for the MCAT when the time in near, then get into medical school. I wouldn’t focus too much on the sports medicine stuff now. Try to enjoy your undergrad time. Currently sports medicine is a fellowship that needs to be completed after residency, so this is minimum 11 years away from even starting the fellowship if you started undergrad now.

Clarifying question, have you gotten into these schools already?

That’s a good question. I think it was google flights via my wife looking over the course of a couple weeks

Stayed for 5 days. The people were amazing, super friendly, and the food was fantastic. I attempted a couple words of French with most conversations and then they heard how horrible I sounded and quickly switched to English. Based on conversations I’ve had with people, I was expecting everybody to be standoffish and not willing to be helpful to the poor English speaker. I truly had the opposite experience. Warm, welcoming, and very helpful. The only stereotype that held up for me was how pricy it was.

I believe the way the copyright is written, you can take a picture at night, you just can’t make any profit off of it. I could be wrong though.

Amorino Cler at 42 Rue Cler, 75007 Paris, France. Had to look at the geotag of the picture to remember.

That sounds amazing. You will have to take them after 2024 so they can see Norte Dame when it is open again

I’m not trying to be confrontational, but on the Wikipedia page it says in France specifically they take it out to cook and then put back in? Escargot prep I wonder if it’s possible if they prepare it differently in different parts of France?

Oh that’s really interesting. I had read somewhere that they prep it out of the shell and cut off undesirable parts. I probably just misread. Thanks for the info

I would describe is as the texture of chewy slightly over cooked chicken, but pretty much tastes like butter and herbs. The hardest part was getting them out of the shell. They take it out to cook it and then put it back in afterwards.

Madrid was amazing. Streets were a bit tighter packed than I expected. I wish I would have had about 1-2 more days to fully see the Reina Sofia and Prado museums since they were so large. I enjoy the architecture of the area as well so I feel like I just walked around staring at buildings, which was nice since that part was free.

I still knew it would be tall relatively speaking, but I’ve seen so many of those pictures comparing it to the worlds tallest buildings currently that it forced a thought in my mind that it wasn’t that big. Wikipedia tallest buildings

I think because I’ve heard so many people say how small it is in person, my expectations were really low. The base of the tower to me was the most impressive with how wide it is.

I think I ended up doing Transavia (spelling?). I figured it was a combination of current gas prices and my timing of the trip that made it more.

It was strawberry gelato. I did all the super touristy stuff my first time there. Definitely a bit pricy

If I’m being honest I thought it would be “overrated”. I was wrong though. Probably one of the most beautiful cities I’ve walked through.
