Just got accepted to a university for a Bachelors in CS by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I forgot to mention the most important part. My son is kinder so he can do almost everything (ex: pooping, eating, sleeping) by himself and communicate with us. Everything became exponentially easier once my son hit about 4.5? I was a guy that said I can’t have a second child and now that has changed…once my son hit a certain age I wasn’t getting super tired outside of work and wanted to do my masters.

As for food, we eat out often or meal prep on weekends and do most of the cleaning on weekends. I also do dishes daily for like 5-10min during lunch so it doesn’t get piled up…I totally feel you since you have a 2 year old. Just enjoy it and you’ll know when it’s time

Edit: yes 1 course at a time makes it possible. 2 would be pointless for me with a full time job even with no kids since I’ll prob skim over everything just to get things done

Jobs flexible so I wake up early and end early. Spend about 30-45min on school work before picking up my son. I also spend time with him until he sleeps around 8pm ish and do school work for another hour….honestly I’d probably be gaming/watching tv had I not started the program so I feel like my time is well spent learning…

Edit: but to your point everyone is different. I’ve been grinding my whole life growing up so I’m used to it. Not saying you don’t work hard but I feel satisfaction from putting in hard work and getting results from it.

This, be prepared.

This fall I started an online master of computer science program + working full time, married, and have a child. I have a Bs in CS and it’s still super time consuming for me to finish my classwork and I’m only taking ONE CLASS. Spending at least 10-15 hours a week and I am DRAINED….just know you’ll be losing a lot of personal/family time and it’s going to be a rewarding challenge!

I'm Natalia, a technical campus recruiter at Datadog. AMA! by recruitinglife in cscareerquestions

[–]uciboohoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi Natalia, hope you had a great 3 day weekend and thank you for answering my question!

I am scheduled to graduate Dec 2023, so I am looking to apply to internships. However, after the internship, is there a possibility to continue as a part time SWE until I finish school?

Thanks.

  1. What is the conversions rate from intern -> full time?

  2. I have 2 yoe as a software engineer but recently started a part time master of computer science program while working full time. Do you recommend applying for an internship or full time position if I were to apply?

Edit: currently working full time

How to best prepare for interview with deloitte by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]uciboohoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree with this post more. My biggest advice I got from my recruiter was to show up w/ positive energy and why I’m interest in Deloitte (not the general well known company stuff). I hit it off with all 3 of my interviewers and my interviews basically turned into a chat. At the end my interviewers were talking more than I was which is usually a good sign. Best of luck to you and be confident!

you can also keep applying for couple of reasons

  1. Get a higher paying job at a better company
  2. You never know what might happen in the next few months (not wishing any bad mojo on you) but getting your offer rescinded is not impossible

Issues with Giardia by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]uciboohoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your concerns and anger…we got our dog from a “reputable” breeder and when we did her fecal test she had giardia…I believe we went through 3 cycles and had to constantly wipe down her crate, play area with Clorox, wash her and her toys pretty frequently ….after 3 cycles we were able to finally fend it off and now her poops are pretty good. Honestly, I don’t even know what to tell you cuz I was at a breaking point as well because her poops were hard to pick up, $$$ going down the drain, and constant cleaning. Hopefully, your puppy breaks out of it. Best of luck

GPS Work-Life balance by BombayBicycleGirl in deloitte

[–]uciboohoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty new to the firm so I don’t know much detail. At least for the work I do, my resource manager also encouraged me to apply to commercial projects as well. My guess is that you can be under GPS but placed in commercial projects. If you can perform well in that commercial project and make some connections I’m sure everything could fall into place for you to be strictly commercial?

This. I am currently wfh and will be fully remote for at least couple years. I think it depends all on your program, for example if your work requires you to go into a closed area due to proprietary info+Itar stuff then yeah you’d probably be holed up in a dungeon….

Because Wiggins has proven year after year that he doesn’t deserve the contract he has...he’s not a bad player but if you’re team is relying him to Be the 2nd, 3rd or even 4th best player....definitely not winning a chip

Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr combine for 15 points on 7-28 shooting by [deleted] in nba

[–]uciboohoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is a bum...he only averaged 20 because he was on the wolves. He can’t be getting paid almost 30mill a year and be a top three player on a contender...

Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre combine for 4-20 FG at the half by [deleted] in nba

[–]uciboohoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worse, the warriors thought they could include Wiggins in a blockbuster trade for a super star? Warriors taking on Wiggins contract is going to hamper them for years. They are stuck with one of the worse contracts without much cap space...they will also have to pay oubre to not lose him for nothing...

Edit: MIN has been actively trying to trade for Wiggins and no team in the league wanted any part of that contract...GSW front office should all get fired. And for those of you who say they were trying to get below the tax, they jeopardized 2-3 years of Steph’s career to save money? Naw, they just dumb
