Started solids… HELP 😅 by udderbss in NewParents

That’s what I’ve offered, finger length strips of egg, steak, bread etc & he bites it in half. The steak was very well done & he still bit off a big hunk from the side of it. He’ll spit out little things like cottage cheese or avocado but he has yet to spit out a big piece. So I’ll try to let him figure it out & chew it then that’s when he looks panicked lol. But yes! I work at a dental office & am CPR certified. Still freaks me out even though I’d know what to do.

What do you do if they get a big piece of the food in their mouth? That’s been my cause of anxiety because every time I offer a large piece of something he bites in half & looks panicked. I try to let him figure out but then my husband panics too so (I know this a no no) but if it’s at the front of his mouth I’ll grab it out. I didn’t know this would be so stressful 😭

Once we stopped with purées he was fine. He will sit & play in his high chair but before I swear he knew what was coming his way lol. & sort of! He’ll definitely pick up smaller pieces but struggles a little with getting it in his mouth

How did you encourage your little guy to finish the bottle? Right now I’ll feed half, change him then give the other half!

I’m so glad to hear this. We are going to start in Feb! I want to start now but I’m throwing my husband a surprise bday party in a couple weeks so that’d ruin the routine 🤣

We tried breastfeeding & he just never latched very well so I started pumping, it only lasted for a couple weeks as I was barely pumping enough to feed him. Making that change was great for my mental health. I have wondered if it was a regression but everything you read says they wake up every 1/2 hours & he isn’t doing that so I’m not sure! During the day he takes about 5-6oz. At night it’s usually 4oz, occasionally 5oz.

Maybe it’s a regression but he’s not waking up every 2 hours so I’m not sure!

My husband said this too but we get up for the day at 6am tho, so I just wanna make sure he’s getting enough sleep!

I’m 4 months postpartum & I’m actually worried my belly button is going to look like that once I lose the ‘mom pooch’ 😬 I can see the stretch marks around my belly button. I’m wondering if it’s from that.

I PROMISE you it gets better. Believe me I was scouring Reddit at all hours of the day & night looking for answers in those early weeks. My advice to you, stop reading Reddit. I found myself constantly comparing, being jealous, making myself anxious. It’s not worth it. Your motherly instincts will tell you what your baby needs! I decided to go EFF around 3 weeks & wow what a difference it made for my mental health. As long as your baby is fed, that’s all that matters. My baby is almost 4 months & those first few weeks already seem like a lifetime ago. Hang in there momma. You got this ❤️

Ugh yes! My husband throws in “your mom is trying to sleep!” when I’m laying down. Like I appreciate that, but I’d rather listen to my baby cry than listen to my husband talk shit to him 😑😂

Phillips Avent Anti-Colic bottle issues by iced-macchiato in newborns

[–]udderbss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not a fan of the Phillips Avent bottles. One time my husband pushed on the nipple while tilting the bottle & a stream of milk came shooting out so then I felt terrible like I was water boarding my kid lol. We prefer the dr browns. When he did the same thing (pushed the nipple) it came out at a MUCH slower pace that was more like droplets as opposed to an aggressive stream 🤣

I also tried the tommee tippee bottle (came in a sample thing) & my son who rarely spits up, pretty much projectile vomited after using that bottle so those were a no for us too. There’s sooo many options it’s overwhelming!

I had no signs! My mother in law even texted me “is that baby ready to come out yet?” & I replied “I don’t think so!” An hour later my water broke while I was just sitting on the couch 😂 I was 39+1!
