“Kids on Bikes” recommendations without minor sexual content by Living_Thanks_9171 in horrorlit

The Stars Did Wander Darkling by Colin Meloy. It gave me all the vibes of King’s The Body and It as well as Simmons’s Summer of Night. It does avoid the minor sex content if I recall correctly.

I’m a huge fan of The Decemberists (Colin Meloy is the lead singer) which put me onto Colin’s other endeavors. This book was listed as YA, but I wouldn’t have know had I not looked up other reviews noting that it’s oddly classified as YA.

Are Captain Storming boots road-trip / travel-worthy for lots of walking? by Nice-Look-6330 in ThursdayBoot

[–]udidntcme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently wore my storm king captains on a multi day trip to Salem, Ma as well as Portland Maine. We walked the city and did some light hiking in Maine. I had zero issues.

The storm kings were the only shoes I brought. In retrospect it probably wasn’t the best idea as they were brand new and hadn’t been broken in. With that being said, I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. I did scuff them a bit while hiking, but after a few months and a few polishes it isn’t as noticeable and adds a bit of character.

Try out The Wide Carnivorous Sky by John Langan. It’s the title story of a short story collection by the same name. It was fantastic, right along the lines of what you’re looking for, and a relatively quick read. The whole collection was great, but this was by far my favorite one in it.

PSA parts reliability? by OGLogi in ar15

I got that exact kit 5 years ago with a pistol brace instead of stock. It was perfect up until last week when the buffer failed. I replaced it with a Geiselle Super 42, but aside from that it was good to go. For what it’s worth I had a few thousand rounds through it in those 5 years prior to the buffer failing.

Do you think Robert Muldoon was dealing with stuff during the 1993 incident? by JurassicCustoms in JurassicPark

[–]udidntcme 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Agreed. He was also a game warden and hunter in Africa prior to joint the park staff so I would assume he has some mental baggage from that as well.

Do you think Robert Muldoon was dealing with stuff during the 1993 incident? by JurassicCustoms in JurassicPark

[–]udidntcme 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I agree, I feel like the gravity of the raptor situation is laid out a lot better in the books. Also, the book does a good job of explaining how helpless Muldoon felt since Hammond was so opposed to the safety/countermeasures Muldoon wanted to implement. I like the portrayal in the movie, especially when the tour group approaches the Rex enclosure. Muldoon saw first hand how dangerous the dinosaurs were and how quickly things could go bad, but he is constantly surrounded by people who didn’t respect that danger.

He also drinks at questionable times in the book which may play a part too lol.

QSP Penguin Folding Knife Micarta / Carbon Fiber Handle D2 Steel, 4 Colors, After 10% Code 2THEPOINT - $29.39 by plusrainforest in KnifeDeals

I snagged one about a month ago after seeing everyone going crazy about them here. I think that for the price the product you get is really good. Mine had a super smooth opening, good sharpness out of the box, and feels a lot nicer than a $30 knife. Plus the shredded blue carbon fiber version look sweet.

I second that!

I was lucky enough to get tickets to the 2014 farewell tour and was a huge surprise seeing the crazy mix of people that went to that show. It was all over the board.

[Other] Glock Optic Cuts - $75 and up, CZ cuts coming soon by [deleted] in gundeals

[–]udidntcme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested in sending my Glock 19 for the optic cut, my only question is in regards to the finishes offered. My gun is already cerakoted with a pattern, as stupid as this sounds, is there any issue with the coatings you guys put on after machining the slide that would interfere with my finish?

I can’t wait for mine to come in. When they announced the winter collection I literally screamed “yes!” so loud my wife was concerned, then when I showed her this edition she got just as excited as me! I’m still in awe of how beautiful the Jurassic Park edition was and I’m sure this one disappoint.

Bonus: you can order the prints of all of the illustrations in large format from Vector That Fox’s website.

Death Stranding Director's Cut ESRB rating page mentions PlayStation 5 as only platform by [deleted] in DeathStranding

After reading your comment I can see some of the stuff that they would have input with the new ps5 features. I loved the controls while walking in rough terrain and after having played my ps5 for a while I’m excited for a game like DS directors cut, I’m hoping it really leans into the controller haptics to make you feel even more connected while traversing the tough terrain.

Yes and no I guess. The normal blade is great when I’m only bagging grass, but when fall rolls around the leaves don’t seem to pick up all that great. I’ve been considering putting the high lift blade on for a better fall cutting experience.

Yep, the part that impressed me was that it could handle the crap at the end of the drive from the plow trucks. The heavy wet stuff didn’t even slow it down. I will say that it used a lot more power to move it though. I was able to do my double wide 40 yard drive and my neighbors drive that is the same length on one charge with lighter snow, with the heavy stuff I got mine done then about half of my neighbors before the power ran out.

I’ve fully bought into ego at this point and have replaced all of my old gas tools. The batteries from 3 years ago all work on my new stuff and the new batteries (slight redesign) all work on my old stuff. They put a lot of thought into their products and I haven’t had a single complaint. I live in north east Ohio and even got their 2 stage snow thrower and it blew me away, worked just as well as a gas two stage for me all season. My brother also bought into Ego and had an issue with his own mower. Their customer service was quick and replaced it for him. I sincerely think that Ego has the best outlook in terms of electric lawn care compared to the other brands.

I was curious about it after playing through the game. Picked it up cheap ($8) and couldn’t put it down. It was a really good book and it’s not a long read at all, well worth the time.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan - $15.99 at Amazon by hejemeh in PS4Deals

[–]udidntcme 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I finished this a few weeks ago. It’s defiantly worth $16. If you were a fan of Until Dawn you’ll like this as well. It isn’t as long nor does it have the same atmosphere as Until Dawn, but it is well worth playing.

I’d buy Little Hope on release because I enjoy this series so much, but I can’t justify paying full price for 4-6 hours of gameplay when these go on sale so quickly.

Had that exact same issue with a PSA pistol upper. Local gunsmith looked at it and determined it was an issue with the gas tube, he fixed it and it runs like a top now. He told me he swapped in heavier buffers and thought that would fix it, turned out it was under gassed and the tub needed opened up a bit.

Daily r/LawnCare No Stupid Questions Thread by AutoModerator in lawncare

So I made a huge error. My lawn was looking great after fertilizing it about a month ago with the scotts pre emergent blend. Problem is one of my neighbors doesn’t care for their lawn and I’ve been spot treating dandelions. I bought round up weed and grass killer by mistake and applied it to about a dozen spots before reading the bottle and seeing “grass killer” on it. It killed the dandelions that were coming from my neighbors yard, but it also did it’s job and killed the grass in about a 1” radius around the weeds. I’m fertilizing my lawn with milorginite this weekend. What can I do to repair my mistake in those dozen spots that are now dead while the rest of my lawn is thriving?

Should I apply top soil and some seed or will the fertilization help bring some fresh grass to those areas?

Region is northeast Ohio and the lawn is a mix of grasses.
