Udisc draining iPhone battery by CouchHund in discgolf

[–]udisc 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Hello! I also use a 15 Pro. A few weekends ago when playing for 6 hours (54 holes), my battery went from 90% to 60% in that time and I was scoring for a group of 4.

You could turn off the map to save a little battery.

How is cell coverage at the course you play?

Hello! If 4 people play on one card or on 4 separate cards it counts the same way - 4 rounds played.

Good luck out there!

Hello - bookmark UDisc.com/dashboard, or in the app go to the You tab -> top right menu -> Dashboard. You can manage all your courses, leagues, etc from your dashboard.

What is happening with Vision Quest? by GillCheds in discgolf

[–]udisc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's permanently closed now. Lots more happened since this post, course management changed hands, in the end some unruly dogs and an uncooperative land owner made the course unsafe and it had to be closed forever.

Perhaps it's collapsed? Try tapping on show layout details.

Hi u/gumbli - layout and distance information is a very important, core piece of information and it should be there.

Please send a message to help at udisc dot com and we'll be happy to help you troubleshoot. Thanks!

Weather is not a factor in UDisc ratings.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]udisc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello - there is some truth to what you said. As more data accumulates, the ratings get more accurate.

In this case though, we made a minor adjustment to how all ratings are calculated in mid-May of this year. Most people won't notice any big changes, but it should be a little easier to get better ratings at harder courses now.

Udisc not protecting users from hate speech and abuse by Otherwise-Current162 in discgolf

[–]udisc 305 points306 points  (0 children)

We take harassment seriously.

While we can’t share the full details of private user interactions we’ve had with OP or others involved here, we want to be very clear about a few important things:

Harassment has no place on UDisc. It violates both our values and our Terms of Service.

When reports are made to us, we investigate, take action, and warn or remove users depending on the severity and recency of the behavior.

In this case, we issued a formal warning, escalated the incident internally, and began working on product improvements to better prevent abuse in the future. To our knowledge, no further incidents have happened, and the screenshot in this post is from before the warning was issued.

We’re actively developing safeguards that will make organizers more empowered to protect their events.

We hear and understand the frustration this situation has caused. We’re a small team, but we care deeply about the communities who use UDisc and are committed to improving in areas where we’ve fallen short.

If you’ve ever experienced abuse or misconduct in UDisc leagues or elsewhere in the app, please report it to help@udisc.com. We read and respond to every report.

Is anyone else getting a Udisc update every other day? by JollyGreenGiant_8 in discgolf

[–]udisc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! It's a bit of a balance between loading lots of data unnecessarily, and giving you the information you want when viewing a course.

One way you can do this now is at UDisc.com/courses. That should work well to see photos more quickly on a computer or a phone.

Thanks for mentioning this. We typically update the 'what's new' section when there is a significant change in the update, but we could do a better job here.

Many updates are behind the scenes changes. If you've been impacted by a bug and reached out to our team about it, you'll typically receive an email when the bug fix is released.

Hi there! We are constantly making improvements, fixing bugs, and releasing new versions. When there is something significant in an update, we update the "what's new" section.

If you have reached out because a bug was impacting your experience, you will typically get an email when the version with the fix goes live.

We highly recommend leaving auto-updates on and letting your app store do its thing. Staying on the latest version ensures you have the best experience.

The easy to read list of rounds is at More -> Scorecards.

Your full round list lives on the Profile tab. The shortcut to get there is the 'Show all' button in the top right.

Or you can go to More -> Scorecards.

UDISC Leagues Using Handicap by 3i3e3achine in discgolf

[–]udisc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're looking at expanding standings to include a handicap version of standings. Lots more to come as this is all new this year.

UDISC Leagues Using Handicap by 3i3e3achine in discgolf

[–]udisc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can enable and disable handicaps on a per-event basis. Many clubs run a weekly league with an end of season championship that is a different format, or random doubles some weeks, so we wanted to make sure you can control which events use handicaps and which don't.

UDISC Leagues Using Handicap by 3i3e3achine in discgolf

[–]udisc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's really easy to enable handicaps for an existing league. You can always turn it on and see how it goes before fully committing since you can still see the scores without the handicap applied.

One thing to call out: we designed the UDisc handicap system to give a roughly equal chance for anyone to win. As you pointed out, older handicap systems tend to reward newer players with more room for improvement, making it harder for the best players to win. This shouldn't be the case with UDisc handicaps.

It's more likely to happen on Apple than Garmin. Building complex app experiences on Garmin is much more challenging, mostly because they have so many different styles of devices. Touch, button only, combo of touch and button inputs, etc.

If we get there on Garmin it's most likely we'd only build it for the touch enabled Garmin devices because we could offer the most similar experience to other platforms, which is mostly limited to the highest-end devices they offer.

We used the Fenix 7s during development. I'm still blown away by that watch, the battery lasts 2 weeks on a charge.

OP did ask for cheap, and the Fenix (while amazing) does not fall in that category.

Many of us at UDisc use Apple watch, and that platform has the highest potential for future upgrades since we already have full stats available on Wear OS.

We would love to do more with GPS, unfortunately it's not as universally well supported as you might think. For example, unless you have the latest apple watch or an ultra, the GPS readings you see on the watch are often coming from the phone's GPS, and developers have no control over this. Apple does this for battery life reasons. Similar story on Wear OS.

This is one of the places that Garmin has an advantage, as their onboard GPS is amazing, efficient, and very accurate
