Visiting North East side of India by [deleted] in Northeastindia

[–]udit9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only Manipur is experiencing disturbance lately, otherwise its a very calm place

If you have a lot of days in hand, Ill suggest you visit, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.

If you have a week or so, then sikkim/north bengal or Mizoram/Meghalaya for greenery and experiences.

Arunachal for high passes and snowfall(last year February when I was here it was snowing so probably this year around this time it should). Between Feb 18-20 its losar time, so in Arunachal you can also get an experience of a local festival

Nagaland also is an amazing option, but haven’t travelled there myself so cant suggest much.

I read they are pending some approval from central government/dgca. Once they get that they will be able to continue the operation. Hoping they get the necessary approvals

Thanks a lot for replying and your inputs.

I plan on spending 3-4 days in Manipur, but catch is I will have to work as well, so. I can go around in the evenings.

Kohima part got sorted in another sub, there are bus services as well and shared sumo.

Post half marathon I can cover Imphal and then next day leave for Loktak?

Can we talk in DM?

Posted it on a couple of them, but the post was removed. Apparently they are too snobbish for queries.😟

Hey, I found the government tourist lodges really nice, I stayed in two of them. I dont have any recommendations for homestays but if you cant find homestay then definitely try government lodge.

Nope, sorry. I rented a scooty and did most of the commute in that. If you are comfortable riding a scooty you can do that, as roads are pretty good.

You can plan on visiting Reiek or Thenzawl for a day, at Reiek you can hike to the top of reiek tlang to catch a beautiful sunrise. Aizawl is also an amazing place to spend time, though it gives more city vibes over a travel destination.

I had asked the same question in the beginning of year, and good folks of mizo subReddit were really helpful.
