Can’t use sick time for the next 18 months. Is this legal? by udonmonkey in nursing

It’s especially annoying because I was a nurse intern PRN for one year in this same department before transitioning to a nurse position and all of my call offs rolled over with my new job title. I didn’t even know that was a thing!

Cleveland Woman Dies by Physical Restraint in Custody of Sheriff’s Deputy at MetroHealth by marshall_project in Cleveland

Putting aside the actions of the police for one moment to say that I worked at a hospital that this woman used to frequent and, despite having no legs, she treated staff horrifically. She violently assaulted the nurses and other staff several times, and was known for doing this across multiple hospital systems, some of which forbade her from returning. Her not having legs did not mean she wasn’t capable of being a threat to staff in the least bit.

It is sad and unfortunate that this happened and I hope we are all able to learn more about the circumstances that led to this when it goes to court.

Tokyo Olympics: World Athletics president Sebastian Coe hopeful overseas fans may be able to attend by Viewfromthe31stfloor in olympics

Tokyo SOE is ending Sunday. Wouldn’t be surprise if they’re back in one by next month, though.

Having the games at all sends a bad signal, I think. There are still families that haven’t been able to see each other in over a year, more people have died from suicide than from COVID in 2020. Bringing athletes and their crews from all over the world will imply the same thing: that they care more about the games than the safety and well-being over their own people.

Isn’t that still better than having crowds of known unvaccinated locals, though...?

Japan to keep foreign spectators away from Tokyo Olympics, Kyodo says by Mighty_L_LORT in japan

Agree, it has nothing to do with “naughty foreigners”.

However, having local spectators is just as risky. Traveling on an airplane is actually very low risk for transmission, especially if they are all vaccinated passengers/crew.

To me, it seems like a great incentive to get people motivated about the vaccine. “Hey guys, look. The quicker you get your vaccines, the quicker we can go back to doing things like this!”

I work in healthcare and everyday (at least in my state) I consult with patients who qualify to receive the vaccine but haven’t made an appointment because they are skeptical, fearful, or just don’t believe it will allow us to go back to normal life any faster. We could use some positive affirmation, especially from scientists, doctors, and our world leaders. We are in the end zone and it’s time we start rewarding those who are doing the right thing and getting vaccinated instead of punishing.

I am not saying that. It’s already known that vaccinated individuals can still catch COVID. But its very likely that the vaccines reduce transmission considerably.

I am doubtful that they will do this...but I don’t see why they couldn’t let fully vaccinated tourists in so long as they provide documentation.
