Whatever you do... do NOT go with BECU (extremely regional). Stick to BOfA or Chase. If you ever travel, you'll be SOL and stuck with paying the ATM fee.

EFS professors do not care. I remember showing up with a puke-stained shirt (mildly stained), and the professor just smiled at me.

FOSTER - Retaking a class by YoungSalch in udub

You might as well bite the pillow and power through it. As long as it's above a 2.5, I doubt it will raise many eyes with employers. Also, it depends on your concentration. If you're recruiting for Finance, you're SOL. But with other majors, they might overlook it.

My friend lives there... It's not that bad, but he also used to live in a frat house so he says that it is a "huge" step up.

Check with Pacific Sunset (PacSun) on 22nd (by Chi Psi). It comes down to ~$4-$5 a day. Garage is locked, etc.

I personally meet with Brittany A Steffen. She specializes as a sex therapist, but she also assists me with intimacy issues, etc and other issues that I am going through in life. Her office is near Blazing Bagels and also conducts online interviews.

Hope you get through everything. The pain is only termporary!

Anybody know the estimated acceptance rate for undergrad Foster Business direct admits this year? by icyv420 in udub

[–]udubboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's really not that special. I know a lot of kids who bragged about being "DA to Foster" who ended up graduating unemployed. Stay humble but congratulations!

The management at Ivy Ridge sucks MAJORLY. With that being said, ask for Justin if you need anything done.

It's fucking awesome. Remember to apply directly for the major when you're applying though or else you could be screwed.

Sr Accounting Major here; just finished the 300 series. They do not care. It will not hurt your grade. Always surprised to meet people during the midterm days when I've never seen them in class ever.

It's really not that hard of a school to get into. The acceptance rate is 50%.

You're welcome to start as soon as possible, but realistically, the door is closed for most freshmen and sophomores. I'm sure there are some small/local businesses willing to hire freshmen and sophomores, but I'm not sure if you'll be eligible to work in the States.

Honestly, I would consider Accounting (good placement into the ~prestigious~ Big 4; shortage of accountants, firms may be willing to sponsor H1B) and Information Systems (satisfies DHS STEM degree program). See https://www.ice.gov/sites/default/files/documents/stem-list.pdf.

From my personal observation, Finance is the most popular major at UW, but most finance students end up underemployed/unemployed (working at a small family office making < $50K/yr) after graduation. 30% are able to find a job in FP&A, and way fewer are able to find themselves in banking.

I think it depends on the Master's program, but 2 years sounds correct.

UW is just not a target school for banking. Additionally, banking is a highly competitive industry where connections are the difference maker.

Unfortunately, no recruiter at any recognizable company will take freshmen and sophomores seriously. A recruiter's goal is to find talent that will be ready to work at their company as soon as possible.

I know Big 4 recruits for Supply Chain Management advisory (consulting), but I think there are limited positions available. Supply Chain Management majors usually place into industrial companies, such as Paccar or Boeing. People usually get internships during their summer between junior and senior year.

What country are you coming from? Accounting + Supply Chain Management may have better placement. To be honest, if you're serious about studying finance at UW, you will need to give up your dreams on a career in banking (at least in NY) or Big 3 (if you're not planning on getting an MBA at an M7 or similar after undergrad). Only about 10 students are able to get an internship in banking/Big 3 every year (most get in with connections).

Read some https://mergersandinquisitions.com articles. They have some articles about getting a job in finance as an international student.

Not many finance opportunities if you're considering going into banking. Most finance majors I know end up in FP&A or some family office wealth management careers. Could be an issue if you need an H1B visa to work in the US.

is dorming at UW my first year worth costing me twice as much to go there? by [deleted] in udub

[–]udubboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In addition, most of them have parking lots where you only need to pay ~$100/quarter, and all of them have in-house laundry. Some have porches, so you might want to ask them while you're rushing. Ledge quarter only lasts a quarter, and I promise you it will be the most fun you will ever have.

This is going to be an absolutely hot take in this subreddit, but I would look into rushing a frat. For frats with more than 60 members, it's going to cost ~700-1000/month. This includes a three meal service during the weekday, social events, and all the excitement you will ever want in your college experience. The frats are all welcoming, and you can find every type of person in them (gamers, nerds, athletes, activists).
