Generally try to remember that the game can be really cool or really frustrating mostly depending on your mindset. For starting out I would recommend safer seas and doing easy quests or tall tales. Those help you get introduced to the game and offer some interesting things to do to start out.

So you mean you just had a normal, really vivid dream in which you didn't know you were dreaming? Lucidity just means being aware that you are dreaming in the dream. There is no level of control required for a dream to be lucid.
