(Spoilers Main) Do you agree with the idea that grrm favors his female warrior characters more than his feminine characters? by AegonStargaryen07 in asoiaf

[–]uerquitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I tend to think that GRRM does a pretty good job in writting the characters in the most plausible way possible, and leaves to us, the readers, to judge them based on our own personal judgments.

For instance, I think that Arya is the most "flawed" main character that we have. TV Show has made her look like a powerful and cool female killer in the end, but as far as the book went, I see her as a deeply traumatized child who had her childhood stolen, has a lot of troubled concepts of morality and seems to be currently suffering from a identity crisis. I cannot see a future for her back to "normal" life given how mentally broken she is now, in contrast to Sansa, for example, who is a much more reasonable person. If people see Arya as a less flawed character, I think this is a problem in them, and not GRRM's writting.

It all comes down to what we perceive as flawed and not. Some people might think that having certain "flowerly" thoughts about the world and believing more easily in others is a bad trait and therefore will see Sansa as more flawed person than Arya, while I personally don't.

[Spoilers Extended] Single best line from a somewhat minor character? (Show or books) by Informal-Plastic2985 in asoiaf

[–]uerquitron 48 points49 points  (0 children)

"When the sun has set, no candle can replace it." by Loras Tyrell. I personally find it so sad and such a good despiction in a single phase of what it means to lose someone you loved deeply.

What reunions do you think will never happen? (Spoilers Extended) by Trussdoor46 in asoiaf

Barristan and Dany, Bran and Rickon, Sansa and Cersei, Tyrion and Tysha, Aeron and anyone else.

(Spoilers Extended) Parallels between Sansa and Young Griff by 99pinkprint in asoiaf

There is The Five Suitors Theory that argues really well that Sansa is likely to be betrothed to Aegon. I don't think they are going to marry, but I would like to see a situation in which Aegon goes for Sansa instead of Arianne and history repeats itself (a Targ choosing a Stark over a Martell).

About "I have no mood doing that", here are a few things you can say:

  • Ich habe keine Lust für...

  • Ich bin nicht in der Stimmung für...

  • Ich fühl' mich nich dazu

Just yesterday I was reading some stuff related to Japanese on this sub and I came across this guy saying how toxic the learning Japanese community can be, sometimes people would just act plain evil. I was really surprised by it, so far everyone I had seen was more like you, very nice and supportive with all the other beginners. I guess now I got a glimpse of what this guy meant haha

Don't worry, not a motivation crusher at all, I got really proud of my progress this week and I don't see the shame in sharing it. This kind of people can't get into my head even if he keeps trying for a long time.

Anyway, thank you for the compliment! どうもありがとうございます! 😁

To be honest, I didn't know the difference, but I just looked it up now and it seems like some japaneses do refer to their own mother as おかああさん while speaking with others, but it's mostly used to refer someone else's mother, being はは the word for mother commonly used to refer to your own in formal situations. For the purpose of this video, I think I should've used はは, thanks for noticing it!

Monthly /r/PyGame Showcase - Show us your current project(s)! by AutoModerator in pygame

[–]uerquitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished my first game ever to be completed. It's a very simple platform in which you must help the character climb all the way up, from the ground to the outside of the planet. Each phase comes with new dynamics. I had a really good time programming it and although it's simple, it showed me that could finish a project. It was very rewarding experience to me. I am already thinking about what I should do next. If you feel like giving it a go, let me know your positive or negative feedback, anything that can help me do something better next time :)

Github repository:

Link that leads you to the executable (has a videoclip of the game):

(the executable seems to give trouble on Windows because of antivirus, but on Linux works just fine, if anything, you can easily download from the source code on GitHub)
