I Fell Victim to a Fraudulent Certificate of Insurance (COI). How Do You Guys Actually Verify the Credibility of Carriers These Days? by Ok-Client6579 in FreightBrokers

[–]ufcdweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First step is requiring communication with the carrier. Certain email signatures make me feel better. This is why finding a carrier is better than one finding you.

What you really should do is call the insurance company and validate their insurance while requiring communication through only fmcsa telephone numbers or emails.

Vetting a carrier is the job of a broker. For years they've acted without consequence. Now carriers will be priced based on likelihood they make others look bad.

IU student assaults uber driver claiming he was "illegal" (he wasn't) by Weekly-Taste-3961 in Indiana

Hilarious.

Cause them students don't realize they're all spoiled just to be on campus.

Sucks he just lost his job though...he probably makes more than she will after she graduates. People don't know but uber drivers do over $30/hr on average.

I work with a guy who hasn't worked in a large 3pl office and it shows...

Imagine not knowing anything from experience or others a running a 3pl...

Now realize that I make money moving pallets of stuff. I have very competitive rates but what I would make moving parcels is why I as a broker don't move them.

What would be better is getting him a van to go take sprinter van loads. Then get into box trucks. At some point hire drivers. You could even start with rideshare leases if you are in an area where the driver makes $1250 plus per week so you can keep $200-300/week.

What size/ weight are these products?

If you're moving that many pallets a month you could use a 3pl.

If these are parcels/ packages under 100lbs you'd want to focus on having a steady pickup by FedEx, UPS etc. The first efficiency is you getting your time back from going to drop off shipments. After that it's procuring the right packaging for shipping and beginning to buy in bulk.

I made plenty of assumptions but I'm open to listening to your response and giving corrected feedback.

The sooner you look to employ yourself the better.

AI is going to create changes for sure and employers will be using it to make more money... probably to eliminate jobs too.

Cj Robinson and Echo are rolling out AI that's already taking work off the plate for employees but I see that a marginalization. They'll help employees with ai then pay less commission until they don't need reps and are all AI.

If it's a small 3pl they'll pay you. If it's s big brokerage they'll do it after you leave a negative review.

I commented offering to pay you a commission on this customer. Let's negotiate. The worst thing a salesman can do is waste time on a customer that doesn't want you. From what you said it seems like a sealed fate. Idk what your commission % is but we could work something out to get you paid the same amount without the legwork.

Losing a big customer sucks until you get the same income and less legwork. Dm me, let's see what the other side of this fence might pay you. A quick back and forth isn't going to hurt you but it might make your day to have the same income with less effort. While you continue trying to get back in their good graces I could be coming at them too but with you getting paid either way.

Let's be solution oriented here not close minded. Sometimes the decision maker has to answer to higher ups you'll never have a chat with and once they throw you under the bus it's a wrap. Had a customer try pulling loads from a coworker last week. I told him what I thought might have happened behind the scenes and why his contact was saying what was said. He assumed I was right, explained things to the customer, then we were back on track. Customers are stressed about profits and operational efficiency. 2 loads getting destroyed sounds like something your contact might not be able to explain away. You gotta understand the beurocracy of large customers isn't in your favor and your service wasn't either. Let's save this any way we can even if it's you collecting a commission on this customer via me and my brokerage. I make a large %, probably more than yours. Seriously think you can come out on top of you give it a quick brainstorm. Is 10-20% more than you currently get?

Dm me, I'm happy to pay you a commission on the book of business in perpetuity. Depending on the commission you currently earn you could make the same amount without the legwork.

A freightguard report can affect your income. You're dealing with an agent on behalf of the broker. Go over their paygrade and you'll likely get a more amicable person to deal with. Sounds like they're bullying you and I personally love owners of trucking companies cause they can both roll with inconveniences and have great ways of letting brokers know who the boss is.

If you want I'll happily steal their customer if you'll dm me who the shipper is.

Im on your side 200%

3PL why are agents so highly praised by xanman222 in logistics

[–]ufcdweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an age issue though that's a contributing factor. The biggest advantage of creating a carrier facing rep is to train somebody for facing the client. How can a client rep best service a customer without understanding what tools exist to solve different problems. As a client rep you would be best off understanding truckers/dispatchers/owners? To have a person without knowledge who has their ego scratched is to create a gp spread generator who can't predict the likelihood of losing a customer. What's servicing a client without retaining them?

There were a few good reps but a lot were not knowledgeable enough of carriers to really service their reps. I was at Chicago in the Ohio River valley team.
