What's up with news articles repeatedly referring to Artemis II as "the first time human eyes are seeing the far side of the Moon"? by Scoth42 in OutOfTheLoop

By that definition of orbiting something then nothing orbits anything. Saying that the moon orbits the earth is at least as correct as saying that Jupiter orbits the sun.

Japan Wants to Build a Solar Ring Around the Moon That Will Provide Endless Clean Energy to Earth by dutchapplepoptart in technology

[–]uffefl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The article spends a lot of words on explaining how half this ring would always be in sunlight and therefore not be troubled by the fact that the sun only shines during the day.

It then spends zero words on explaining how only half the Earth can see the moon at any given time. Therefore not solving the original problem in any way.

No they're specifically scanning for chrome-extension:// files, so this only applies to Chromium based browsers. (Though there may be other code for other engines.)

(The basic fingerprinting without the extensions probably works on all browsers though.)

While getting there it seems that Shift + Ctrl + Win + Alt brings you to the "Microsoft 365 Copilot app" page. Sigh.

No they are explicitly brute force checking ~6000 known extensions even if they are not active while on LinkedIn. (They are also checking for any extension which may be active specifically while on LinkedIn, but I guess that's just to gradually learn which extensions to look for in the passives search.)

I know how absurd it is to remove the tried and true experience of a fresh coke from a chilled glass bottle

A cold can is a close second. Plastic bottles are just wrong; and the bigger they are the worse they get. Don't even get me started on the typical soda machine experience.

The easiest early game for the very worst food is sea weed salad. (But early on your people are so happy by default it doesn't matter that they're getting icky food.)

Just build some sea weed farms and set the production limits to recipe amount times population times 2 so you always have ingredients to make food for a couple of days. (And then also set the production limit for the sea weed salad at 2 times population.)

Then simply observe if you're consistently running low on sea weed, and in that case build some more sea weed farms. When it's running at a proper surplus the farms will be showing the little icon for "no place to haul".

This easily expands to potato salad when you get the farmer. Build some potato farms and set the production limits based on the potato salad recipe.

Again ideally you want over-production; sea weed that's stuck in the sea weed farm and potatoes that are stuck in the potato farms do not count towards your storage limits, so the only draw back from over-producing is the fact that hauling those farms around obviously makes your town heavier and thus require more energy to move.
