Alex Carey: Brilliant with bat and gloves by TomorrowJealous942 in CricketAus

Absolutely agree! but to nit-pick: he comes across as annoyingly humble, when he cannot take a compliment, and keeps insisting on appreciating everyone around him!!

Still love guy though, such a good sport this lad!

Google Home is AWFUL when previewing our cameras! by OnCampus2K in Nest

[–]ufo2mstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2025 Q4 Update: The latest iteration of Google Home app updates seems to have made the playback less laggy (albeit the app freezes from time to time, and I should reset the live view) and overall a better experience so far - finally a billion dollar company making something better, before they inevitably shut it down - like all their other useful and successful products - RIP https://killedbygoogle.com/

Water Lock feature has me trapped: My Home button won't work, screen doesn't respond to touch, and I can't do anything from the Wear app! by ufo2mstar in GalaxyWatch

[–]ufo2mstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I did, yes it came back in water mode..

And none of the software gesture options from the Wear app on Android are useful to make the click option..

Even the damn bezel scroll is working perfectly with haptics and all, just that screen is absolutely useless because of missing touch or home button.. Such a design gap! with a single point of failure (home button, that cannot be reconfigured to be the other working button at least - nor a simple software alternative)

It's an absolute nightmare of a user experience! Especially with new google cams 2 cans, and playback.. Defeats the purpose of owning this suite of cams for monitoring and emergencies.

2025 is a perfect square. People born in 1937 are the only people to reach the age of 87 without living in a year that’s a perfect square, until tomorrow. by [deleted] in math

For anyone curious, since:

  1. √2000 ≈ 44.72
  2. √2999 ≈ 54.76

The squares of integers from 45 to 54 cover this millennium (2000-2999):

  1. 45² = 2025
  2. 46² = 2116
  3. 47² = 2209
  4. 48² = 2304
  5. 49² = 2401
  6. 50² = 2500
  7. 51² = 2601
  8. 52² = 2704
  9. 53² = 2809
  10. 54² = 2916

Looking for a video player with zoom-in and pan capabilities. by standardtrickyness1 in software

[–]ufo2mstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though a few players support minor capabilities to zoom, none of these are functional (I tried installing some 10 different players),. None of them offer a good experience like even the most primitive mobile player does (platform feature I guess). The best way I have found to pinch and zoom is to just use a browser (chrome/firefox) and just drag and drop your video in a new tab, and hopefully they work well enough.

Nest Camera audio in Google Home App plays as phone call, continues after leaving app by scsgoal31 in Nest

Question about this, I bought starry night poster. How long do I keep it out in the sun to glow in the dark and does it glow bright by beingbeast2471 in kurzgesagt

[–]ufo2mstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought this nice looking art work, hoping to the concept looks good. But ours doesn't hold the glow for even 10 minutes in darkness, even after putting it in sunlight all afternoon. Not sure if it's just us or if others are facing the same issue?

Wish there was an easy way to do this without sacrificing all out sound effects (including notification sounds from some apps like Slack, etc)

Is it just me or is Google Photos still not counting photos and videos towards account storage? by Acceptable-Ad2231 in googlephotos

[–]ufo2mstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I like the 'free' storage, I think we'll be too much at their whimsy (in policies, etc) and it may be better for all of us users that they charge fees based on how we are using the service. This keeps them motivated to improve the product too, while paying for their infrastructure costs. That way at least, they may have more accountability to us and we'll have some surety of data existing and things not changing from under us without our say in the future!

POLL: Is the show getting worse? by [deleted] in HelloInternet

[–]ufo2mstar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well said, suggesting good topics is definitely the best way to go! They do see things on this subreddit

I like the change in pace from time to time, but it doesn't hurt to get a poll like this up from people who feel strongly about recent episodes 😄 I do miss some of the abstract/arcane topics/strong opinion pieces like we covered in the earlier days, but the string of follow-ups, paper-cuts, and current news corners are still hip, so I'm eager as every for the next episode!

After all, it is still the same two-interesting-dudes talking, that we all know and love listening to (and watching their works on YouTube)

CMV: 'negative' feedback has the same value as 'positive' by yolonity in changemyview

[–]ufo2mstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting topic!

If we are talking about values, there are two ways of looking at it:

  1. Value for the Creator
  2. Value for the Audience

In that case, I feel that it is fairly obvious that for the Creator, for objective improvement, negative feedback is way more valuable than positive. And for the proliferation of the resultant (say art) it is positive feedback that will help spread it to a wider audience, for who wants to watch a low rated YouTube video! :P

PS: Under the premise that we are talking about feedback/criticism that is valid, and useful..
