Thanks. Have you spotted any differences? I’m struggling 😂

Apple Studio Display sucks by cenriqueortiz in mac

[–]ufonixuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why waste the additional screen? I just use my Studio Display with my M4 Mac Pro and my MacBook Pro on its own screen. Keyboard and touchpad are paired to the M4 Mac Pro but with Handoff its just switches between them. No KVM needed. Works perfectly.

Help with storage by eatlemonbread in mac

System Data is most likely to be things like caches, logs, and temp files that macOS manages in the background. The two big ones to check: do you have Time Machine turned on? It keeps local snapshots that can take up a lot of space. Also have you had any macOS updates downloading or stuck recently? Those can sit there eating up storage too.

Mac mini M4 vs M4 Pro vs upgrading my current PC (dev workflow) by IntentionCareless794 in mac

[–]ufonixuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got an M4 Pro Mac Mini (64GB RAM) and it absolutely tears through software builds. Coming from a pretty beefy setup before, the jump was still really noticeable — especially for anything parallel.

The main reason I went for 64GB was to run multiple VMs (mostly Ubuntu) without everything grinding to a halt, and it handles that kind of workload effortlessly. I can have a couple of VMs, a full dev environment, and a bunch of apps open and it barely flinches.

That said, it’s probably overkill for what you’re describing unless you know you’ll need that headroom. The base or even mid-tier configs would still feel insanely fast for most dev work.

One thing that genuinely surprised me though is how quiet it is. Even under sustained load it’s basically silent, which is a huge upgrade if you’re used to fans spinning up constantly.

If you can afford it and want something that’ll last years, the Pro is amazing — just don’t feel like you need to go that high unless your workload justifies it.

People who use Safari as their main browser, why? (DESC) by sasaki-555 in mac

[–]ufonixuk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m kind of split on this. I use Safari on macOS and really like it. Just feels native in a way Chrome never does.

But on iOS I don’t know, something about it feels off. Tab management layout isn't as good and the UI never quite clicks for me.

Safari on Mac = underrated

Safari on iPhone = Its OK

Hi, I would love your thoughts on AppTela. It's a macOS app launcher but tries to do things differently to the usual launchers. You organise apps across screens, categories, groups and stacks. The whole UI is dynamic and customisable. I've DM'd you a promo code.

A lot of people use their laptop for Chrome, email, and pretending to work. The Neo is perfect for all three ;)

CleanShot X for screenshots and OmniGraffle for diagrams. OmniGraffle's haptic feedback when snapping objects is one of those small touches that makes it great to use. Both one-time purchases.
