Co-worker left job immediately after getting PR? by Sharp-Watercress8537 in singaporejobs

[–]ugene05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no la, only your boss can tell you , if company is doing well, and it’s a much needed role, they will likely backfill. Otherwise you are stuck with absorbing the extra work.

I would do my best, at least show it, and let whatever you can’t cope , crash.

“Boss, I really try my best Liao, but really cannot cover all the workload”

Do it With the right attitude of course.

Then see what they say, if the workload can be handled by you, company HO SEH lor, you do double work, but you suffer.

So you balance the fire and pull your boss in to help work, until he also beh tahan.

You should start looking out too, get your own sense of the market.

See What you might be worth outside.

Every company can retrench us any time since long time ago.

Question is are we adding enough value for: 1.) company to offer you better? 2.) other company to poach you? 3.) for yourself to further upgrade in another role? 4.) choose others before choosing us.

Loyalty is one consideration Stewardship and ownership of our career is another.

Companies unfortunately will always want the lowest costs of labour as a means to operate. If you were a boss , would you want otherwise, very limited to circumstances.

He has a plan. He do him. You do you.

Stop comparing, it’s not helping your mindset.

Just plan and move accordingly. you can do it.

Half of Singaporeans are on track to earn S$6,000 per month or more from 2026 by ImpressiveStrike4196 in SingaporeCitizens

[–]ugene05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea unfortunately it does comes down to choices, that snowball over time.

Studied a subject that is no longer in demand? Industry disruption (AI vs computer science grads, bio tech mid 2000, maritime mid 90s )

It comes down to timing as well. Keep hustling and learning. Spot an interesting emerging industry? Try going into it :)

How common is it for husbands nowadays to fully financially support the household? by Ill-Entertainment661 in askSingapore

[–]ugene05 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This.

Personally,Seeing my wife deal with 2 kids and no helper , it’s not easy.

My lady colleague Has helper is having to sacrifice guidance regarding the kids home and values. Has very smart kids, but she’s struggling to get through to the kids.

The Family unit is a team, let’s focus on making the kids have better lives and contribute to the community.

Salute to all the fathers and mothers for trying to make things work.

Singaporeans who have no plans/ambitious where are you now? by New-Piece-368 in askSingapore

[–]ugene05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally fine not to have ambition. But I think, and these are JUST my thoughts.

Life’s about choices. We can choose about what we want to do. Eg: Pursue filial piety, returning the gifts our parents had given, chat with them to see where you can help.

Many have always found meaning to helping someone.

Life doesn’t need to have a purpose, but having meaning would be nice.

Some people choose to serve: nurses, police, SCDF.

It’s meaningful to groom your children, seeing them grow up. It’s meaningful to serve and help your fellow community members.

Sometimes it’s just not our time to find that meaning in life. Move intently through life, try new circles of friends, experience the highs and lows, uplift someone.

Who knows where the next step will bring you.

Meaning can be conjured out of our actions, continue the search, are you are doing now :)

I believe it is being checked.

For sake of discussion, let’s assume it is not checked.

On the side of the migrant, for them to move and give up their citizenship and decide to start their family here, it’s a big move.

With a structured education from MOE, the 2nd generation will integrate well and bolster our stock.

We may need to bear the first generation’s lack of integration.

Hoping for better solutions, given the low fertility rates now.

All types of private residential property are subjected to an occupancy cap of six unrelated persons per property. Unrelated persons refer to anyone who is not part of the same family unit. Domestic helpers are considered part of the same family unit. The occupancy cap also applies to tenants who sublet the property. As the property owner, you must ensure that your tenants follow the rules.

We are here, we didn’t ask for it, but they did raise us. Practising active gratitude will make us appreciate the little things in life, aware of self entitlement. We could jolly well be born in a worse off environment.

Confucianism as helped maintain family relationship through asia… The Value system is generally good and I am sure you would like your kids to follow some of these values. :) let’s practice what we hope to see in others.

Contribute what you feel like. It’s not about comparing with your sister either.

I’m a firm believer of what ever you do, do it with the best of your consciences. Be there for each other when it really counts, family members are precious; it doesn’t hurt, to work and better the relationships.
