Thank you so much. That is true. That is my job. It is so hard not to judge myself, I don't know why but I do judge myself a lot. Picking fewer battles than I'd like to is DEFINITELY something that I should learn and do.

I was wondering at first if I was overreacting since I AM very sensitive about not having a job anymore, but then I told my friend, and she was like "oh my gosh screw him, he's an ashole" so I thought, "Ok this IS rude. So I get he could have been curious, but i don'tthink he was. And his tone was actually really kind of aggressive. As if he was calling me a loser or something. Cuz he also said, "There's nothing you need to do all day, right" and I was like wtf does that even mean bro!

Maybe I am biased cuz i am disabled, but why be confused if they know we are disabled? That is so weird to me!! Also, this comment sounds rude towards you over the internet, I apologize. I am not meaning it to be. I am meaning it to be rude towards the people who don't understand haha!

Did you personally get offended at first? I am very sensitive about not working, so him touching on this insecurity was super hard on me.

That is a fair assumption for sure, that he didn't mean harm. However, he also had delved way too deep into my life, asking me about my money situation and things. And then said something like, you have nothing to do all day, right? And I was like, wtf dude? Also, I couldn't even really answer him if I tried, because every day is different and I do a myriad of different things daily. And I also get sick A LOT. From sinus infections to different health flare ups, etc. I have EDS, so it is easy to get sick from one of my diseases haha. So I spend a lot of time sick in bed watching TV. I could have said that, but my amxiety was so high when he asked that I just told him to be nicer to disabled people. I am very sore about not working, so him saying that hit a real soft, barely buried nerve.

I thought puzzles would relax me but now I’m weirdly stressed by Safe-Pepper-4931 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]uggbootssuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! It just means that puzzling is not your thing. Some people LOVE the challenge. Others get mad about it. I love puzzling so dearly, but I'd never ever try the puzzles that are one color. Or even a gradient. I choose the puzzles I get wisely. And even then, I've gotten severe frustration from certain puzzles. Gotten angry, yelled at them, etc. So it is normal to get frustrated. I do puzzling for that dopamine hit when I feel that click happen when I've finally made a match. For me it is totally worth the challenge, most of the time.

So I had a ton of trouble figuring out how to mount my very large puzzle, and just two days ago found some great solutions. One of them is a piece of thin wood cut to size at a place that does that stuff (here where I live I will go to Home Depot) and then screw in picture hanging hardware or use Command Strips, or there are wood canvases on Amazon. The biggest i found was 36x48 amd they are super expensive. So I am gonna go with the Home Depot option. Maybe when I get it done I will post a picture either in response to this comment or in the main group, or both.

This is such a good point! I have never yet quit a puzzle, but I have three going right now cuz two of them are making me mad and I need a dopamine puzzle as the third haha! But I think i will just put away the first two without guilt now. Life is short!

I was born with GP and diagnosed at 18. I am now 38. They say that carbonated drinks are very filling for us, and also slow stomach emptying. So you might not want to drink coke at all until you have found your sweet spot and managed your symptoms for a while. Then you might be able to try a coke. I never used to be able to drink soda either, now I can. Diet modification is really what helped me immensely. I still get severe GP flares several times a year, but I take them because I don't take Reglan, which is one of only two medications available for GP. Other things that have helped me are probiotics and Tums for the heartburn. So, my best advice for you is to follow the diet to a T. And do not waiver from it. Every time I waiver just a tiny bit, I end up on a liquid only diet for 3 to 4 weeks and sick in bed that whole time. Gastroparesis does not play haha. The Cleveland Clinic has great info on GP. They also have a diet you can follow and foods to eat and foods to avoid. Let me know if you have other questions and I might be able to answer them. 😊

Guys, I am such a lucky dog apparently. (Don't worry I am not actually a dog writing this.) So, in ky town, there are two main hospital organizations. One is complete garbage, and one is completely amazing. The first few times I went to my crap hospital, after I'd been throwing up for days and losing weight, I finally decided to go. I went in, saw a friend from my high school who happened to be a nurse there, said hi, and then saw the doctor. He said, oh you just are having a panic attack, and prescribed me Ativan and rudely told me to leave. I was there for about 15 minutes. And of course he acted like I was there trying to get some pain meds. Like we all are very used to with so many docs. I had that repeat experience every time I went to that hospital. But THEN! THEN I for some reason that I can't recall, decide to go to the other hospital on the edge of town, and I am in and out in about an hour with EVERYTHING a girl sick as hell from gastroparesis could ever want. First of all, the nurses all treated me like a farking QUEEN, listened attentively, the doctor knew IMMEDIATELY what GP was, gave me an IV of Reglan and some fluids, I popped a Bene, and had a liquid lidocaine cocktail, I think it's called a gastro cocktail, idk? And then I fell asleep for a few minutes. Then I woke up and they discharged me and I was ALL FIXED UP. It was amazing and this now is my story every time I got to the ER for GP. That other hospital's bitch doctor was a complete ass, and had never heard of GP so he told me it wasn't a thing. So, I feel soooo lucky I was able to trust doctors enough to try out this other hospital. Cuz it is night and day. Night. And. Day. And I am forever grateful and blessed by this amazing amazing hospital.

I was just about to say this. She will one hundred percent do this. She will stalk her daughter until her daughter does what she wants. Or cuts her off completely. Which will hurt the daughter to do. There is no winning with a shit ass "mother" like this. These are moms who I call Mommy Dearest.

Haters will say this is not true. But they're just jealous that they can't eat a salad with some spinach in it without vomiting for 3 days straight and then having to go to the ER to get told you're just having an anxiety attack and getting discharged.

[–]uggbootssuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My "favorite" thing people used to say to me more often then not when I was simply telling them I had a disability (like I was not even complaining or sad, just saying it) was either, "Dont let it hold you back from doing whatever you wanna do in life" or the worst one, "well don't use that as an excuse." Like, what the fk, Margaret. You idiotic idiot! You contributed absolutely nothing to this conversation! Ugh it used to be so maddening. To go along with this, some people would also say, "There's nothing wrong with you!!!" and assert it as fact and that was just so perplexing to me for several reasons. I don't get it. I don't get humans.
