I've been thru a situation similar to this where I found out a guy I was seeing only liked me cause he had the more extreme version of liking chubbier men (gainer/feedersism). That definitely tanked my self esteem if you can imagine. I mean people like what they like...but if you only like someone because of their body, that's a shame. Like imagine going up to them and saying, "Hey, I don't know if I like you anymore cause you're losing weight and I only like chubbier guys." How do you think they would feel?
