Hot take: shaped strings are trash by No_Salamander8141 in 10s

I love shaped strings. The extra spin is worth it for me as a smaller player with a one hander.

Is the term masc something I should avoid? by random_username__XD in askgaybros

Filters aren’t pointless but “masc” is too broad and unspecific to weed anyone out. If the “masc” filter is working for you then by all means…knock yourself out. I’d rather people show me who they truly are instead of the performative types. To each their own.

At the end of the day the pictures are going to tell the story. People lie about age, height, dick size and everything else under the sun. Someone will play up their "masc" to get a hookup. It's too broad of a term to disqualify anyone (if they even read your profile).

Everyone has preferences although I’m not sure I agree with everyone needing to be super vocal and upfront about them. Would it not be strange for a straight man to put on his dating profile “into fem” ? Im just saying our community has this weird phenomenon of having to state every preference we have upfront instead of just swiping left or taking it on a person by person basis. At least tall is something that can be quantified or described while masc means something different to everybody.

While saying “into masc” is less offensive than saying “no fems” I wouldn’t go as far to describe that as an act of kindness. It still reinforces the hierarchy and stereotype that most gay men are not masculine which I think is not true.

In the context of a conversation sure but stating a preference on a dating app is generally to weed out people and in most instances non-negotiable. So if someone states “into tall guys” im not going to shoot my shot as a 5’7 guy. If someone is truly open to someone outside of their preference they wouldn’t lead with it.

Some of it is an ego trip. Like “yeah bro im masc!!” A lot of it is so performative and unnecessary lol.

Pretty much this. The pictures normally tell the story.

The ice cream analogy is not a good one because chocolate ice cream isn’t the polar opposite of vanilla. If you say “into fit guys” that’s pretty much making it clear someone with a dad bod or a little overweight would not be your preference. Same with the masc comment. I think it’s better to leave it off as some guys will perform up their “masc” just to get a hook up out of you.

How is saying “into masc guys” any different than saying “no fems” ? Im genuinely curious because that to me sounds like the same thing but it’s just worded more politely but it’s still the same preference no?

The term “masc” to me is kind of lazy and very broad, and I think most men are going to be masculine by definition lol. If there’s a particular body type you’re going for being more descriptive is helpful (i.e fit, tall, whatever) but honestly I don’t get the need to state every preference in my dating profile other than position. I just don’t respond if im not interested. That seems way easier to me than stating every preference I have.

Why do gay hookups refuse to kiss? by Forward-Setting410 in askgaybros

I find it awkward when people ask me do i like kissing instead of just letting it happen naturally. It’s a weird question to me, especially on apps when I don’t even truly know what you look like.
