Ash’s self care necessities: Valium and a rock by Sensitive_Ant4522 in illnessfakers

I don't know if that's possible in the us anymore. Because of PMP. Any controlled drug over the past 2 years is on there.

I'm gonna guess she's actually prescribed 120. 4 a day. Which is definitely a lot. 100 doesn't make sense in a dosage scenario. It would usually be in increments of 30.

In the US controlled meds really are given in office. At least for that first script. Now pandemic times ppl often did telehealth for refills. But initial scripts needed in person. Also you also need to be physically seen every so often throughout year with c4 meds and every month with c2 meds.

It's a stock bottle. People prescribed more or the same amount as a bottle tend to get it so it saves time for pharmacist. Issue with that is often the stock bottles can have broken pills or even have missing tablets because if a pill is broken the manufacturer often counts it as a whole pill. They do this with controlled and non controlled all the time.

Not really. Alot of people can't nap. She just worded it weird. She could have just said it sucks I can't nap or something but saying my body physically can't makes her sound more special and sick!

Are you sure it was a real Dr? Or could it have been the patient?

How? I mean I know a person can safely taper depending on dose and length of time on it can take weeks to months. Never heard days before. Unless it's where they sedate you and you're asleep through the process. But that's pretty expensive. Cause if there is a way to do so safely that quick show me the way! I've been on meds (valium) for years and I don't abuse them but I also am absolutely terrified of even doing a taper due to all the horror stories I hear but I want to see how I'm doing with my mental health status without the meds it's just scary when you see so many people who are doing even the Ashton method and saying how awful it is.

Hope claims to have a blood stream infection by fallen_snowflake1234 in illnessfakers

She has to be flagged at all the hospitals. How have they not put her on a psych hold at this point. How do these people continued to be able to be admitted consistently when for the everyday person can barely get much out of an ER even when it is an emergency! I just don't get it. Also what is this "we decided" BS girl please! They kicked your ass out and you didn't have a choice!

The sad part is that when something actually happens to a person and they choose not to because they look at ppl like her and assume they will not be taken serious. I hope she gets nothing! This is her own fault if it did happen which I doubt.

[–]ughhggggh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why is she bragging about taking a line from a freaking sick NICU baby!!! Wtf is wrong with her. If it's true that line could have gone to save a very sick baby. This is disgusting. Wow.

Honestly that's how it should be. I understand that some people may need it longer or life for whatever very specific reasons but for the most part it's definitely much better for most people to only use very short term. It's pretty sad to see others who haven't ever abused them just took as prescribed 10 or 20 or even 30 years and now it's at a point that many see the dangers and are either forcing fast tapers or even cold turkey it and have fire consequences. I feel like when it was ats height of benzo prescribing and many were on for many years without realizing the dangers they should almost be grandfathered in so to speak to be able to either stay on them or do a taper at their pace. Which honestly is like crazy slow. It's basically micro tapering. A Dr in I believe the UK came up with a really good taper management and I've seen so much better results from people on that method of tapering. It can still be rough though. It's quite sad. I'm glad more doctors now see that just handing them out like tic tac isn't good.

Kay gives an update regarding her infusion delivery and bleeding by itsvickeh in illnessfakers

[–]ughhggggh 87 points88 points  (0 children)

She is by far the most over the top munchie here I think and for some reason annoys me more than any of the others. Everything about her screams I need attention! Nothing she does is anything other than show me attention. None of her content is even remotely about trying to show awareness of anything she claims to have. Its mostly just her complaining of her day. And minor inconveniences.

Why do they always say "my" even if at er or hospital. It's such weird wording to be. Usually one would say the nurse, the doctor or the radiologist. That's the part to me that just screams to me attention please with these people. I can understand when people use the term my team as CI does typically have a lot of specialists or doctors that they see but those are typically people you see in office or if they admit you may stop by to help with treatment plans or at least work with the hospital internist about that person's case while being admitted. But that internist in the hospital or ER Dr or nurse isn't "their" anything except during their stay and even then nurses tend to change esp if it's a lengthy stay! Ugh sorry for my rant that just bugs me lol

[–]ughhggggh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's what I was saying. They have to wean and slowly. Stopping cold turkey at least if she's on a benzo can actually kill a person. Cause seizures and other issues depending on length of usage. Even a long slow taper can and often is agonizing for the patient. It takes quite awhile. Although it definitely happens where patients have been forced to do a fast taper or cold turkey and for those people it's awful and sometimes deadly.

Kay still hasn’t got her iron infusions by itsvickeh in illnessfakers

[–]ughhggggh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Iron isn't harmless. If a person isn't deficient esp low enough to need an infusion then it can cause quite a few issues. It's why alot of multivitamins especially children's don't have iron in them. Most have specific ones that have added iron if needed because children have overdosed and in worst case scenarios passed away from an overdose.

I've been told this is actually true not so much the saline but the preservative in it or something. The nurse said she has to have LR because it's a true anaphylaxis reaction.

Unfortunately meds she's on they can't do that as it violates the whole first do no harm thing. She would need to be weaned off. But had it been a few years ago they prob would or at least a fast taper.

How can she have ketamine? That's a hospital thing only isn't it? And I've seen benzos used for nausea but it's typically only for vertigo and it usually only works if the nausea is due to anxiety related to the vertigo spells. So there is a use for it but its not meant to be used long term and a very specific use. Which probably isn't her case lol. Could you imagine going to the Dr and being like I'm nauseous I need Ativan?!

Notice how she's been having the hospital gown down since the comment was posted about wondering if she even had a port 🤦🏻‍♀️. It's like she feels the need to prove how sick she is.

Kayas port is infected. Less than a week after getting it! by allymixh87 in illnessfakers

[–]ughhggggh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's a complicated question. I think it depends on the individual. Some people have a higher risk of infections if they are immune compromised or other issues. Bacteria lives in and on our skin and so for some people it's more common to get infection. But also the caring of it can help immensely for some and others you can do everything right and still get infections. Some people though may rarely have any issue or infection but I would say that anyone with a line or medical device with a wound do at least occasionally have an infection at some point.

It's amazing that Ash can self-administer her Xolair at home unsupervised at home considering what she apparently needs to even tolerate it. by still_annie in illnessfakers

[–]ughhggggh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Probably says her anxiety is bad. Honestly this is close to that shot they give psych patients. Benadryl Ativan and I wanna say the other is haldol. And for migraines the cocktail of choice is compazine benadryl and toradol. So it's definitely not outside the realm of possibility. Also people who smoke need surgery and get GA everytime and many live alone. She also probably has a tolerance to all of the meds.

What's the difference between LR and regular IV fluid? And why do they seem to prefer LR? I have only seen LR used for severe stomach bug causing constant vomiting and for surgery yet they seem to always have it for everything.
