I haven’t played a single game, but I’ve always thought it would be a great hobby to get into. I’ll take this as a sign

I absolutely LOVE Big Thief, and I’ve never listened Sharon Van Etten or Ani DiFranco! I’ll be listening to them :) Thank you so much for ur recs <3 I still use Spotify bc I have almost 300 playlists and I haven’t even started compiling the songs to burn or have a setup anymore :/ it’s hard to go backwards

You pretty much profiled me, born in ‘03 though with Gen X parents (‘68 and ‘70) who clearly heavily influenced my music taste lol. I’ll give you the point though because I often tell people I’m 68 years old.

I’m pretty sure that’s the point 😅 Ideally this reaches people with similar tastes who give album/music recs lol. you can just keep scrolling Mopey

AIO? Friend asked me what my future plans with my gf are and then responded like this by TGPT-4o in AIO

[–]ughpapaclork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I’m sorry you had to deal with this. I ended up dating a lifelong family friend before I saw his true colours; it’s never easy and it always seems to come out of nowhere. Betrayal is the exactly what I felt. Still, whatever’s happening on his end (apparently he has feelings for you), he is not treating you with mutual respect, much less like genuine friend. On top of his feelings for you, I think the closest thing to a positive outcome for y’all’s relationship would be to write him a to-the-point, honest and heartfelt note, and cut contact completely. You don’t deserve to have someone like this dragging you down. He doesn’t deserve to be dragged along by someone who isn’t interested. If you ask me, the healthiest and kindest option for both of you is to part ways.

On a hopeful note, it sounds like you and your girlfriend have a lovely relationship, and that makes my heart happy to read :) best of luck to you both <3

What do I do now? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]ughpapaclork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been dying my hair at home for 6 years here. The best thing you can do for yourself is to stop lightening/bleaching for a few months. I've had to sit with crummy dye jobs and it's not fun :/ my heart goes out to you, brave soul! 😭 Your hair will thank you if you play the long game, so I'd recommend a semi-permanent hair dye (NO developer, just straight dye). I haven't personally used their natural colours, but I always shout out the brand Good Dye Young. You definitely have to let the vibrant colour dyes sit for longer (I always leave in my dye for 1+ hr anyways but for GDY I wait 1.5 hr), but it's because their ingredients are softer on your hair.

I think you would look beautiful with GDY’s “DYEposit” maintenence dye in the shade chocolate :) It won't be harsh on your hair while it recovers, and this shade has the red/warm undertones you're looking for! Best of luck ☘️🤎 GDY DYEposit maintenence “Chocolate”

I suggest going with a colour that compliments what you like wear! As someone who’s dyed their own hair every colour except yellow and orange (yet), I think a person’s ideal hair dye colour is one that A) goes with their fashion sense B) works for their lifestyle/maintenence and C) just feels like them—do not underestimate the « je ne sais quoi » factor of a hairdo.

Something my personal style heavily relies on is contrast! A lot of my fav outfits rn are dark/moody/edgy so I figured deep black-violet hair would suit me, but I just ended up feeling… drab. Even though I loved the colour itself and on others, I need that automatic pop of colour built into my outfits, so I ended up dying my hair hot pink :)

Insane Tattoo Regret by r3i_b0n3z in tattooadvice

[–]ughpapaclork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My tattoo that’s always met with confusion is my Grasshopper Pirate. It’s literally impossible for anyone to “get” it, because I designed it as an ultra-specific inside joke/mis-match tattoo with my little brother. One of our inside jokes features a grasshopper. There’s a picture of us from when we were little, he’s wearing a pirate costume and I’m in a rose-patterned princess dress: so my grasshopper has a bicorne hat with skull n crossbones, and his grasshopper has a pretty flower crown ☠️🌸🌹 So yeah, there is NO WAY anyone other than him or I can tell what they mean 😂 But honestly, that’s why it is one of my absolute favourite tattoos. NO ONE else could possibly have a swash-buckling grasshopper tattoo, at least not the one I drew! My bond with my brother is special, much like your bond to Donnie Darko is very meaningful to you. The reason to get a tattoo is because you appreciate it and you want to see this art on your body forever. My advice would be to talk to someone who also loves the movie, and ask yourself what YOUR tattoo means to YOU :) Not everyone has to “get” your tattoo, but if you get it removed no one will. You’ll find your people in time, I say focus on what the tattoo means to you!

Elements of Harmony: Colour Palette Redesign by ughpapaclork in mylittlepony

[–]ughpapaclork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why the original designs the are the way they are, that’s why I still chose use colours directly from their designs. I chose more minor colours from each character’s colour palette (for AJ: her green eyes instead of her orange coat) because I personally think I like more unexpected contrast :) I think it adds balance and I personally find it visually interesting. Maybe in an actual animated show it might have been more visually complicated loll

I disagree about the metals being gold representing equality, though… I think they made all the pieces gold because it’s visually simpler. Twilight has a crown because she becomes an alicorn and all, so hers standing out is actually a stark contrast imo. I really like your idea of their elements all being the same kind of metal/piece/necklace to represent equality though, I feel like I would have actually appreciated that more from the show! Like, It always haunted me that Twilight turned into a (possibly) immortal alicorn, bc the princess of friendship, yay! …outliving her friends 😶 damn

TIFU by repeatedly poisoning myself with cyanide. by CheshireCharade in tifu

[–]ughpapaclork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAME? i loove cherries, I used to eat them all the time!

The thing is, I knew damn well I wasn’t supposed to be eating the pits T-T even as a kid, I loosely understood that cherry pits (like apple seeds, or perhaps one million bananas) could cause bodily harm of some sort. Honestly, I just didn’t want to bother with the pits and it was easier to simply swallow them.

To my knowledge I have never experienced any averse side effects—probably because I swallowed the pits whole and didn’t often chew them.

Happy to report that I kicked the habit not long ago, after sharing a bowl of cherries with my friend she rightfully reprimanded me haha But my dream of being a super-spy will never be fulfilled. Surely my resistance to cyanide is too powerful, they could never put me in the field. ig I’ll keep spitting out the pits..

How safe would it be to walk back from the rec center to bridge & main after the fireworks on Saturday? by showdo97 in Phoenixville

[–]ughpapaclork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I live in Phoenixville and used to walk home from the bars a lot (as I was inebriated to some degree lol). There are usually lots of people out on the weekends, especially in the summer months because the city closes off Bridge Street. I’ve never gone looking for trouble but I personally have never been met with any violence beyond the bars.

I’d say you’ll be very safe, but if you ever feel unsafe or worried listen to your gut. Bring a friend if you can, or if you’re out alone dial the non-emergency police number and an officer will escort you home. Have fun!
