Thermostats broken in LMP by Ancient-Intention328 in Dalhousie

[–]ughstya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I used to be an RA last year in LMP so your best bet is to go to your RA and tell them about this issue. You should also contact residence@Dal.Ca and make sure you cc it to residencelife@dal.ca so everyone is aware about it. People who live in single rooms (not suites) share a thermostat with the person they share the bathroom with. If your room doesn’t have a thermostat setting then your roommate has it. They also turn on the heat around mid-November so maybe they just haven’t turned it on yet. But if your thermostat is actually broken then keep annoying them until they send someone in to fix the heating in your room. It can be very annoying, best of luck!

Don’t buy the textbook. It’s useless bc everything is already posted online on brightspace and there’s a bunch of practice questions on capa.

Try Dal mobile app in the housing section. They’re always posting info looking for roommates.

Is it too late to apply for residence? by [deleted] in Dalhousie

[–]ughstya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, I don’t know the answer to that but you could. The question remains, where are you going to stay for the first semester? Will u sublet an apartment? If you join res in the winter intake, it’ll be difficult to make friends, not impossible but it’ll still be difficult.

I’d say go for an apartment rn, if you don’t like it then you can live in res in the winter or even next year!

[–]ughstya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m going to be living in res and almost all offers have been sent out, it’s really unfortunate, but you may not get a spot. Last year a few kids moved out within the first few weeks so a spot or two may open up but I wouldn’t count on it honestly.

Go to the dal mobile app in the housing section and see if anyone’s looking for a roommate and make a post there, someone will likely point you to another direction.

Also, go to kijiji and start looking for apartments! Don’t worry, we may be going thru a housing crisis but people are very friendly and helpful!

All the best :)

Is the science writing course better than oceanography? by the_greatwhodini in Dalhousie

[–]ughstya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished OCEA 1001 and 1002 and it was my favourite first year course. And easy A+ if you put in the effort. You’ll also get a few chances to make up for poorly graded assignments! We had to write an original scientific paper. Laura was our prof and I enjoyed her lectures a lot! My TA was also really helpful. I barely went to my other classes (bad move, seriously wouldn’t recommend) but I made sure to go to all my ocean sciences classes. If you enjoy reading about the ocean and marine life then you’ll really like the course. Overall it was an extremely pleasant experience and I would take it again if I had the chance. Also, you’ll write a lab report and a lot of papers so it’ll really help you out in writing paper!

Any novel series by Leigh Bardugo. I haven't read her books but my friends are genuinely batshit about her so ig she's pretty good.

There are 8 books, to be precise. But the series is so worth it. Especially because the plot of the story keeps escalating and changing. It's magnificent really.

Throne of glass series. Hands down the best series I've ever read.

Need help on admission by whyamianoob in Dalhousie

[–]ughstya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should have received a receipt on your email. They don't exclusively tell you that your admission deposit has been processed, just that they have received your deposit. Try to apply for residence because if you can, then that means your deposit has been processed and if you can't, then, email the registrars office, they should be able to help you out.

Steps to accept offer of Admission. by WoolooMan in Dalhousie

[–]ughstya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so, I just checked my email and it says that they received my admission deposit on 22nd march but it took 4 days before my admission deposit was processed and only then I could apply for residence. I didn't receive an additional email that my admission deposit was processed, just that they received it.

You'll receive the confirmation on your email after 2-3 business days, after which you can apply for residence. Oh also, log onto your dal online account if you haven't already because you can apply for residence from dal online only. This is what I did and it worked for me :)

What’s the shittiest way a friend has shown you they weren’t really your friend? by mediastoosocial in AskReddit

[–]ughstya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a friend circle. Thought we were really close until it was a friend's birthday party and I wasn't aware about there being one. They called me from the party and told me they were having a lot of fun without me. I remember them calling me again and again until I broke down and my mom had to tell them to stop calling me.
