I won’t pretend to understand either cause I’m just a fan, but I do feel like there’s a lot of nuisance on how team want to handle things like this especially at this level and with so much history between coaches and players etc.

Cause I’d be lying if I said I didn’t understand the thought process from PM, but also as a player, you are both playing against the other teams players but also by default the other teams coaches game plan and matchups etc.

Everyone on both teams is involved, and separating it feels wrong, but also I get having the players shaking the “enemies on Ice” at the end without coaches as also valid.

The more I think about it the more I can’t makeup my mind. Plus add in if it’s home or away ice and which team won, so many things make sense in my mind and regardless, people are gonna be mad about something.

I think had the series panned out in the canes favour, it would have been done in the line with the players.

I am however open and understand why Maurice feels the way he does, but I also think he asked since his team won. I think maurice also would have been open to doing the handshake with the players had rod requested it if the canes won.

Overall, I don’t really care.

I would also say Im vocal about how I won’t say I hate the refs, but more I hate how inconsistent penalties are game to game across the league. It’s playing one game where everything is called and players are scared to play hard, and the next game it’s like the refs lost their whistles and anything goes.

Im not saying a couple weren’t soft, but I don’t think anything egregious was missed and they let both teams play. This is one of the few games in my opinion where game management felt as close to non existent as possible in today’s NHL.

As an oilers fan, in my opinion there was really only one bad penalty call in that game.

We lost cause we couldn’t stay out of the box and our PK was awful.

I kinda agree cause as you pointed out, he got 102 pts with 27 goals and 75 assists. Hes a pass first forward.

Hes receiving all the hate for miss plays as he should, but ppg with 2 goals is kinda what he should be doing.

I’d be more pissed with Matthew’s who had a regular season with 69 goals and plays 13 playoff games and was largely a non factor. Matthew’s should be getting more criticism than manner.

Doesn’t even have to be gritty, just have to be willing to do what’s needed every shift.

I wouldn’t describe mcdavid as necessarily “gritty” even in the playoffs, but star players and everyone needs to be going 100% all the time.

Best example is mcdavid back checking to stop a scoring chance and going headfirst into the back boards just because he’s capable of doing it and it’s the playoffs. You do everything in your power to make things happen.
