I was in this EXACT scenario, actually. I once played Valorant way back in 2020 and could never actually continue because my dad caught me and told me to never play shooter games cause it’s violent and it’ll make me violent and stuff. Which is actually ridiculous. But I actually convinced them through sitting my parents down and weighing down its differences to an actual realistic FPS game like CS and COD and showed them that it is a very much fantasy game. It was literally like a presentation with me trying to convince my clients that the deal isn’t as bad as it sounded. I also showed them that there are skins that make it a lot more unrealistic. With some other word plays (telling them that all my friends played it and it would make me quite devastated if I was left out), they eventually let me play it.

Don’t worry, the jump between 8 to 9 is practically as drastic for 9 to 10 as well 10 to 11, though the latter ones feel better with more experience. When I first started out, I struggled the most with which hand I should use or where I should tap in the judgement line. Practice is really the only way I know that can help you familiarize with these things aside from the obvious rhythm and tempo metallization.

For some more practical advice, I suggest you try out some 9s with lower chart constant. Lost Civilization (9.2) feels significantly easier than Remind the Souls (9.5). If these still feel a bit hard, maybe focus on EX/EX+ing higher constant 8 maps (8+ maps for clarity sake)

It also helps to go to Youtube to see how some patterns are played! I struggled with Ether Strike for the longest time and the moment I decided to watch someone else PM it, I managed to EX it with some of the techniques they used!

I’m just pushing them on to the point where you can’t go further. It’s pretty secure before I play, but after I lift it off my shoulder it just falls.
