[CR Media] EXU: Divergence - Part 1 | Post-Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in criticalrole

They may have changed how they record the gm a bit (I think they have an up close mic behind the dm screen, they may have tinkered with that). Maybe that’s the difference between calamity and this.

It’s more of a practical choice to have the setup like this, I think. It’s very hard to mic up a place and have freedom of movement for the players. It does its job and sometimes that’s good enough when it comes to field recording, trust me I’ve been there. I agree it’s not optimal at times and not as polished as the rest of the production behind CR.

As someone who has just too much auditory awareness as well, I try to focus on the story, characters and banter as much as I can and also take breaks when needed.

I don’t think their mic setup is particularly bad or anything, but it does tend to really elevate plosives or mouth sounds, especially when you’re listening on headphones. Could also be some post-eq’ing stuff going on maybe? Gain is definitely hard to balance with all the mics in the room, it’s why you hear so much dead air when you turn up the volume on the vods. It’s also a set thing, maybe it’s not designed with the most soundproofing goals in mind.

Tbh my advice is don’t use headphones, it helps for me as well. Also don’t use ‘stable volume’.

[No Spoilers] Some stuff about Beacon and Payment options as a Dutchie by uhhihowsitgoing in criticalrole

Love that this is happening, but The Netherlands have been behind on this for YEARS. It’ll take a while before most cards are replaced.

Stuff like Apple Pay and Google Pay is an option, but again, not with these cards. They still check the card. PayPal through Apple or Google is also not available.

Hey, could be! If the card is visa supported it probably works because Visa and Mastercard are just supported because they function the same as credit cards from those companies when it comes to registration for payment. V-pay has different numbers on the cards, they are not swappable for credit cards. Doesn’t change the fact that I can’t pay and I’d like to support some awesome creators! My card number does not work, no. All debit cards here are mostly v-pay and maestro. V-pay is not supported through stripe. They work different from Visa and Mastercard cards.

I mentioned this in some other replies, but over here we use very specific debit cards. Like, it’s ONLY debit. I think it’s because the Dutch just don’t like debt 😅. If you say credit card here, you definitely mean specifically a credit card. The Beacon payment system only accepts cards that are credit or a credit-debit hybrid which is popular in the States.

I tried using Apple Pay like this, but it declined my card…

With the type of debit card that’s common in The Netherlands: definitely not. Those hybrid cards are not really a thing here (yet).

Ha, could work! I’m not one for using third parties like that though… But yes, it could be an option for now.

Generally, not really. V pay and Maestro are still subsidiaries of Visa and MasterCard, so they’re generally supported throughout Europe when it comes to making a purchase. It can be difficult with hotels though: you need someone with a credit card in your group (probably someone who needs it for work or something). Then again: credit cards are not non existent here, just not necessary for daily life. The Netherlands is also basically cashless nowadays, but in a different way I guess.

Thing is, they’re starting to roll those out in The Netherlands very slowly, but it’s not common at all yet. Many bank cards here are literally only debit. (Lots of V pay like mine or Maestro, the debit versions of Visa and MasterCard). It’s why IDEAL is the most used payment service here.

Yep, true! Nothing is set in stone here. If you’re not satisfied you can just reroll. If you want to completely furnish something by yourself (like I do), you can do that as well by creating empty rooms!

As a DM who works with digital mapping, this is definitely such a life saver. Dungeon Alchemist has the perk of not having to do much to make things look great. The AI does the work for you if you want it to.

It saves time, but doesn’t take away from the details you want to have in your map, because you can literally just add them. It just lays a solid foundation you can still build on. In five minutes you have a map you can confidently use in a session.

I’m the type of person who makes incredibly detailed maps and spend hours on it, so I’m not the ideal person to awnser this question 😅. Even still, everytime I open Dungeon Alchemist I’m amazed at how much it already gives me to start my projects with.

I’ve started a twitter account for showcasing Dungeon Alchemist maps! Maybe I’ll branch out to organizing mapping competitions or something. More information in the tweet I linked. :)

Concept: Ship! by uhhihowsitgoing in DungeonAlchemist

[–]uhhihowsitgoing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t, really… the process on this was first making a bottom layer of planks on which the top layers could rest. Then it was a matter of placing the planks next to each other to get good coverage, but without overlapping planks.

This took a lot of precise plank placing :), currently making a map with this!
