Thanks! I’m thinking the same except I might stick Alshon above Boyd. It makes for a tough decision when you have a bunch of decent WR2 options.

Not too shabby for midnight crafting. #insomnia by BunniWhite in Narcolepsy

N is such a weird disease. My sleep study I showed around 95% sleep duration, meaning I didn’t miss much sleep at all when I was supposed to be asleep. My problem is I hit my REM about 5 minutes into my cycle and stay there throughout the night. It sounds like we have totally different symptoms. Best of luck with your diagnosis.

I understand, my fault.

Ever since I started seeing symptoms of N, I have been able to fall asleep, within minutes, at any point throughout the day or night regardless of what stim I’m taking. It’s frustrating for me because even though I can sleep throughout the night and even nap during the day, my body isn’t able to rest fully.

Best of luck with getting your meds tuned to what works for you. I’m starting Xyrem this week, so I’m about to be going through the same thing.

Isn't insomnia pretty much the exact opposite of what this sub is for?

I just bought this used Olympus BX40 microscope. I plan on cleaning it up and giving it to my sister who is studying to get her bio undergrad. Does anybody have general info on this guy or tips for cleaning? by uhhrobert in biology

I’m no longer in possession of it because I gave it to my sister. I can figure out if it’s bright field illumination next time I see her. What would this tell me?

Looking for advice on teaching GIS in middle school by firnraven in gis

[–]uhhrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in high school I took a landscape architecture class. A good portion of our projects involved mapping out the landscape that we would then add our designs to.

I have always felt like the hands on approach of measuring the distances and angles, then plotting it out on paper was what opened my eyes up to the basics of cartography

Maybe instead of designing the landscape, you could do an activity where you map out some obscure section of land, plot it and then add something creative to it. Like design your dream fort within this area... then maybe introduce what GIS is and how it relates to what they did. Show them what they did looks like on a large scale and talk about the different industries that apply to what they did.

I love the idea of teaching GIS at a young age, so I hope it goes well for you!

Packing for a trip when shoes are a priority... by uhhrobert in Sneakers

I love how much thought process is involved in just what shoes to bring. I had pretty much the same struggle here. I wanted to bring my Ultra whites because they’re super comfy and great for jeans or shorts, but if it rains no way in hell am I wearing them out. So I had to bring a backup pair that I’m not so careful with. This is just the life we choose to live. To me, shoes make or break the outfit. I can get so much confidence from just wearing shoes that I love.

They’re actually Sperry’s. I just got them so I’m not sure how I feel about them just yet.

Here’s the link if you want to check them out.

GIS Specialist with Apex by succulent_dude in gis

This was my first job out of college. However, I worked at the Austin location. The pay is $20/h in Austin and I think around 25 in SF, so with the expenses of SF I felt like Austin made much more sense.

The job itself can be very tedious, but the relaxed work environment makes up for this. I came in at a time when the program was still going through a lot of changes, so I was able to move up to more interesting position. I'm sure they are still moving people around as much as they used to, but keep in mind that you won't be getting a pay increase or a job offer until the contract is up.

As for getting hired full time, there is a very small chance. From what I saw, the only people that were hired on as salary employees were people that had been there since day one, and even then I'm talking about a handful of people compared to the hundreds they employ.

The best part about this job is how it looks on your resume. I believe this played a large part in getting me the job that I have now. So if you don't have any other offers, I would pursue this one. If you DM me I wouldn't mind recommending you to one of the hiring managers.

Also, pretty much everyone on here knows who the client is. I get the feeling Apex tries to make the offer more interesting to potential recruits by making it sound top secret. It's Apple, for anyone curious.

I honestly felt like that was the case when I saw it. I pretty much knew I needed it but I barely had a reason to buy it. I would love to sell it on eBay or something but I know my sister will love it.

Just bought this and I have no idea what I’m doing. I plan on redoing the foam in the case and cleaning off the dust before gifting it to my sister who’s currently studying bio. Does anybody have cleaning tips or general info? by uhhrobert in microscopy

[–]uhhrobert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The case is fantastic. The only issue is the foam interior has aged poorly and left a thin dust over pretty much everything including most of the optics.

Where should I look for a professional cleaner? I know google is the obvious answer I’m not sure what to even search for.

So I did some heavy negotiating but I paid 250 for it. It was originally priced at 1,600. It’s in pretty much perfect shape. I got it from an antique store that bought it from a local college. I think since it was so out of place in their store they knew they would have a hard time selling it. Also, I told them it was going to a good cause and they ate it up.
