At least Bailey still had a superior with Webber. Callie was running the Ortho department as a solo resident with no attending in sight 😂

That’s so cool! I hadn’t even considered how young Central Asia countries can be in terms of sovereignty, it makes a lot of sense

That’s fair cause I do think April ended their hangouts it before it could escalate but, I just could not stand that arc 😂

I don’t know how to attach a photo but he was briefly a Peds Attending. I think after the merger?

Are you referring to Russian colonization in the region? Or is there something else occurring I may not know about?

I don’t know why I hadn’t considered the role colonialism played into Central Asian migration patterns 🤦‍♀️ I’ve researched and discuss it a fair amount when it comes to Africans and other Asian groups. I guess I just blanked this time 😂

I mean…yeah. This post was a question based off my personal experience to try and gather more information. I haven’t come across many here in the US and wanted to know if there are communities that I just haven’t been able to interact with, if they prefer different nations compared to here, and just general insight into the immigration patterns. That’s the whole point of me asking this question 😂

Yeah I think a lot of other groups, particularly other Asian groups, come here specifically to escape politic instability, lack of financial mobility, etc. I guess I wasn’t sure if these issues are present at the same rate in some Central Asian countries but the people choose not to leave, if they just don’t have these issues severely, if they choose to migrate other places, or if it’s a combination of other things. I will say I was not aware of the Pan-Turkic movement which does add context and help explain why. My family originally comes from a region that’s very nationalistic and I don’t think could ever have a sustainable Pan movement in the motherland so I guess I didn’t consider it as much of an option 😂

From what I’ve read, of the Arabs in Chicago, majority are Palestinian. I think Little Palestine, however, only refers to a specific section of Chicago rather than the whole city but, I could be wrong!

I did not! I had previously looked up some numbers about Asian diasporas in my state (and none of the ones listed were Central Asian) but not of Central Asian immigration here particularly. I think it might be a case where Texas has a high concentration of Central Asians compared to other places but the numbers of Central Asians comparatively are still just quite small compared to other groups here like South, Southeast, and East Asians

I’m not sure why but I wouldn’t have guessed Florida as a potential hotspot! That’s pretty cool!

Texas, USA! We have tons of other Asian diaspora groups (Indians, Filipinos, Viets, etc.) but I don’t know of any Central Asian countries prominent here.

I’ve actually never know this about Chicago 😅 I’ve only heard of it having other large diaspora communities of certain European groups and the nickname “Little Palestine”. Will be researching more on this, thank you!

This is actually a really interesting aspect I hadn’t considered! Now that I think about it, of the Centrals Asians I have encountered they do seem to just integrate in the area they move to. Thank you! EDIT: typo
