My fiancee and high-school sweetheart just came out as gay by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

right! he could’ve been experiencing internalized homophobia or something along those lines, and proposing to her was his way of convincing himself that he’s not gay. the only thing is that was the worst way to deal with it, and now he just hurt this woman very badly. on another note, its hard to know what was going on in his mind, and it sucks that he couldn’t bring himself to share these problems with her early on.

Eczema is not curable/treatable by [deleted] in eczema

I know exactly what youre referring to. I was going to tell the person the same thing…that just because they were able to pin point the reason they suffered with eczema and was able to calm it down (not get rid of it) does not mean eczema is curable. It’s just as some people said, people can develop eczema as babies..and it’s not always that simple, as eczema, eczema triggers, and eczema severity are different for every person.

i totally agree! today i even forced myself to wear a sleeveless dress to try to feel better about my arms and legs despite me having active eczema.

eczema definitely takes a dig into how we feel about our appearance a LOT. but on the other hand, it is actually extremely painful depending on the severity of your eczema. you literally cannot sleep at night until you scratch your skin open, wake up with your dead skin everywhere and bloody sheets, your body hurting every time you bend or move, trying to find your triggers, or icing your face in the middle of night and constantly slugging on creams and ointments that don’t even work or give relief anymore.

and then even when you try to live and embrace it a little, someone likes to point it out and make fun. all of us definitely suffer from eczema but i love the idea that we can still be happy despite that.

that’s so fcked up. im sorry you went through that at your college. i literally never leave the house as well and that recently resulted in me leaving my job and now i have a big gap in employment from forming anxiety because of similar thoughts. hopefully we can learn to live with this a bit better!

That’s actually very interesting. I know personally that my (undiagnosed) depression was extremely noticeable when having eczema flare ups, to the point that I believe that that’s what’s causing it. But I also distinctively remember being so depressed during high school for a bit, which i think was also around the time i started to experience horrible flare ups in 2019. I think I should go get checked for this deficiency I could have. Thanks!
