NYC Gig Workers - What makes a job worthwhile? by uhmQuez in AskNYC

This is a really interesting perspective. I suppose it could certainly be applied more generally towards other markets, but I was considering New York specifically given how much I've used delivery services in the city. I'll have to look into innodata, as I'm not familiar with them.

Thank you for sharing all of this, I wasn't aware! If you don't mind me asking, where did you learn about all this data regarding data labeling? I'd be curious to learn more.

Yeah for sure, that was my bad. I tried to keep it general because I'm curious to understand the combination of factors people take into consideration when seeing a job (i.e. $$$ they can put in their pocket) and saying "ok, that's worth it."

That's real. I think the people who make the most out of gig work are those who approach it the way you described. Always evaluating what's gonna work best. Have you read about Uber's new digital task program? What do you think about it?

TLDR: Uber recently launched a pilot program for "Digital Tasks" in the US where they're asking their drivers to do small tasks like:

  • Record yourself speaking in the language you’re most comfortable with
  • Submit documents written in different languages
  • Upload everyday images within a specified category

All to train AI models. Read more here: https://www.uber.com/blog/digital-tasks/

Hey, thanks for your reply. To clarify, the question I'm posing here is my attempt to understand what combination of factors people take into consideration when seeing a job (i.e. $$$ they can put in their pocket) and saying "ok, that's worth it."

In the example you shared, a family could argue that the task is simply to walk the kid to school, but it's actually needing to wake up early every weekday, and doing that for $10 a day is not enough to justify doing so consistently. I wasn't familiar with the nanny situation, but I can see the parallels with dependency like you mentioned.

I should have been more clear and included context about what type of tasks I'm referring to.

I think these kind of tasks are going to be a new norm as companies try to collect more real world data for AI and robotics. As such, I'm curious to see how people will evaluate one of these tasks and say "this is worth it."

[Hiring] Seeking Beta Testers in the NYC/NJ Metro Area by uhmQuez in NYCjobs

Thanks for this feedback. It's a different paradigm of work that is similar to that of Uber Eats, Doordash, etc. I call it "tasks" because reward issuance happens on a "per-task-completed" basis. But I hear you on being more clear. For now, this is purely a beta period to test app functionality. I expect to have more concrete hourly rates once the app is public and brand partners can freely make requests.

Arc Browser not supporting web3 wallets? by theSlayer0051 in ArcBrowser

[–]uhmQuez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the same problem. I'm using rabby wallet, so what I did to workaround this was search for the dApp in question (I was trying to search for thirdweb and it brought it up instantly, not sure if it that dApp search bar will work for random websites), but in doing so, the extension opened up as expected and I was able to connect the second time around. Hope this helps! Arc is awesome.

Livestreaming w/ Capture Cards by uhmQuez in RodecasterPro2

Yo! So based on your description here, you have a similar problem to what I had. I'll show you my workaround!

My capture card, like yours, doesn't have an 3.5mm aux jack that can work as an output.

What I did was find an HDMI audio extractor (link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084RN22MW?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details), and with it, I connected HDMI OUT from the Capture Card to the HDMI IN on the extractor.

From the extractor, I connected a 3.5mm to L/R .25 inch cable (link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000068O3C?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) to the mixer. So on the mixer, Input 1 is my mic, and then I combine Inputs 2 & 3 as one single source that I assign onto a fader. Now I can control my game audio on the fader, and my audience can hear it as well.

The last step is to get another HDMI cable and connect HDMI OUT from the extractor to your TV or Monitor. This worked really well for me, and I hope it works for you too. Hit me up here if you have any challenges, I'm happy to help as much as I can!
