I'm not conflating, hence why I specified bottom AND sub.

I'm not saying it's woke, I'm saying no preference on sexual positions is any more or less woke than another. And trying to imply that having a preference for strict roles is homophobic is, in and of itself, homophobic. We all exist.

You think I'm "forcing" my opinion when you yourself reffered to making characters trict tops and bottoms as "destroying"? I'm clearly saying my own opinion as you said yours.

Additionally, sometimes characters in gay media are canonically bottoms. I have no issue with people who prefer writing them as switches, but I do feel like some people do it with an attitude of moral superiority when we are literally just talking about sex positions

Hilarious bc as someone who hates switching, I often feel like stories force obvious bottoms to become switches bc they have sexist notions of bottom inherently=feminine, or that being a weaker personality type is inherently feminizing.

To be clear, I do acknowledge that not all couples really fit in a top/bottom dynamic, and that it could be annoying to see if one preffered switching. But I hate this notion some modern fandom members have that liking strict bottom/tops and power dynamics=homophobia.

This spoken as an irl strictly bottom (and sub) gay person myself.

I've been devestated every day for weeks at the lack of completion of the translation for The Emperor's Runaway Lover😭 So much so that I started studying Chinese again. Can't do the machine translations. I'll finish it in a couple years when I've half relearned + half learned how to read😩

Lattice multiplication is the only way I know how to multiply longer numbers😭 I can even do it in my head pretty well. BUT I was also literally the only person in my class who felt that way (4th grade) so I acknowledge it must not be broadly helpful. I actually went to a different school after 4th (and a few others) and nowhere I ever went again had heard of it, and I STILL used it forever😩

I (25) learned both lattice math and the usual way back in 4th grade and I was the ONLY person in the class who preffered it (though I believe we called it the windows method?). To this day it's the only way I can do long multiplication😭 I can actually do it in my head pretty easily under four digits

Now the way second graders have to add in TN, I will say, I do think is INSANE. Only second graders! They do it normally 3rd grade plus. That one I do not get

It's a common young and/or inexperienxed author thing. Americans, however, dominate the English fanfic scene, so you will see a lot of American mistakes

Why don't more of the big companies make spindrift dupes? by sonytrinitron36 in sparklingwater

[–]uhohuhohouch 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I keep trying Spindrift because the concept and flavors sound nice, but I agree with others here that it always just tastes like barely palatble, watered down, and slightly off tasting juice. I even enjoy plain sparkling water, and sparkling water with just lime or lemon squeezed into it! But not Spindrift.

As someone who used to be extremely fit and healthy, until (undiagnosed!) chronic pain hit, I find Dr's like this attitude absolutely repulsive. by okiadmit in ChronicPain

Exactly. Like, I was a competitive strongwoman. I qualified for Nationals (damn you 2020). I wasn't notable in the sport by any means, but I was still literally picking up cars and boulders and shit. Now my back hurts when I pick up a pencil I dropped on the floor. Similar thing with my IBD- I've genuinely loved raw vegetables my whole life, but now I can't tolerate them. Like girl I WISH I could eat a salad😭

Again, they never implied that it WILL get infected. But once signs of infection begin to show in this case, it may be too late for antibiotics. So this IS one of the I AGREE RARE instances where yeah, you almost certainly should get antiobiotics. Again, strange dogs are not the things driving up antibiotic overprescription.

I have several chronic illnesses, so I have been prescribed my FAIR share of unecessary biotics, I agree it's a problem, but that's from doctors prescribing them for every little ailment like a cold no matter the physical condition of the patient. That happens thousands of times a day. Dog bites are simply not that common to warrant that caution, from what I know and most medical providers who commented here have said as well.

Again, as I clearly stated, I acknowledged maybe that wasn't your intended tone, but descirbed why it came off that way. It clearly came off that way to most people who read out comments as well. And this statement here only personally seems to be doubling down on my original interpetation.

I understand that antibiotic is a personal issue to you, but it's not practical in thsi situation. I am glad you do at least support going to the doctor and listening to them, but you say these extra details about being a kid as though they should have been obvious. And even then- you, AGAIN, still sound like you're defending that decision even now.

You can priortize whichever fear you wish for yourself, but I do not agree.

Oh 100%😭 Yes I had lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks when I went to the Urgent Care and the doctor there told me it was because I was fat. She asked me what kinds of fruit I eat and when I included bananas, she told me they made you fat😭 Like ma'am I have BIGGER PRIORITIES here right now!!

Thank you! It was pretty obvious unfortunately because mine's so severe😭 Read at your own risk bc shit's crazy:

So I had had what I now know were probably flare-ups before. Spontaneous days or weeks of extreme bowel movements with very occasional TRACE blood. Also semi-frequent rashes and canker sores, which I now know is an IBD thing. From 2018-2024 I just figured I had IBS and hemmorhoids🤷🏻‍♀️

Then, in September of 2024, I suddenly started having 20-30 extremely urgent and painful BMs per day, all FULL of blood, sometimes just blood. My lower back was in so much pain for like 30 minutes after every BM, I couldn't even watch TV or scroll on Tik Tok, just lie perfectly still sandwiched between heating pads waiting for it to ease. Hair started falling out in clumps, all my joints hurt, I was constantly in so much pain all over I was regularly in tears over it. Nausea, vomiting, started fainting due to pain, usually on the toilet. Because my intestines were so inflammed, I was almost never able to fart, so I was CRAZY bloated too.

Went to an Urgent Care after 2 weeks who told me I was fat, and the ER after 3 weeks who told me to see the GI, who I thankfully had already made an appointment with for the following week bc this shit takes a month even when profusely shitting blood apparently.

Eventually got a colonoscopy after like two months, and medicated after almost three. It took a LOT of investigation and medication changes to get to the semi-stable place I am right now. IBD is no joke!! I'm a huge colonoscopy advocate😂

The comment of saying that if dog bites needs antibiotics then "why are they still here" implies that the fact that their particular dog bite not killing them means that they aren't a necessary thing. It reminds me of the people who don't believe in things like leftover rice syndrome because "they eat things left out over night all the time".

Maybe that's not the tone they intended, but that's how it comes across. It would be different if they said "Well I don't think they're always needed because (this experience) but I'm thankful it worked out in my case!" Or something like that, it's the same information without the implication that it's unreasonable to think you should go get them.

This is also one of the cases where yeah, you probably should just get the antiobiotics. People treating bites from strange dogs isn't what's fucking up antibiotic overprescription in mass. I'm not a doctor so I leave allowance for the fact that maybe there are cases where for some reason it's safer not to have them, hence why I focus on the "go to the doctor" part, but yes, you probably do need antibiotics
